:) Congrats, I do like the looks of Dodge much more than Ford, maybe one of these days I get to ride in one, what else does it have, is that a sliding rear window
P.S, except my hay-guy's dodge with a trailer of hay, my kidneys are still missing.

Yes, it has a sliding rear window. I didn't notice that until the drive home. It has the power locks, windows, mirrors, cruise control, 8-way power seats with lumber support (my 2003 LS did not have lumbar  ) plus the trip computer and compass/temp, fold down jumper seat with storage in the the seat and under the seat with power outlets inside, and has a nifty tool tray built in under the rear seats. The rear seats just push up or down, no strap to grab first. Also the seat belts are not in the seats, but on the side of the cab where they should be :) .

Basicly, it has everything my 2003 LS had plus some nice extras.

My 04 had those stupid straps also, I hated it, and just love this easy fold up and down, nice improvement, I think you got a good deal:)

Were you having issues with your truck, is that what made you buy a new one? Or did you just want something different? Why Dodge and not another GM truck or Ford? Just curious as I have started looking as well.

Bought it for 32,500? Was that with your old truck as a trade in, or was that just the incentives they are offering right now?

I have some positive equity in my truck right now, maybe it is time to move to something new. If anything, it would give me a good chip to bargain with at the GM dealer.
Thanks for the info. Great looking truck.

$32,500 was the price I negotiated before mentioning the trade-in. Surprisingly they even gave me more than blue book for my trade-in. Financed amount was much less.;)

I was originally planning to purchase another truck next summer. But last month the local dealer ship screwed up a comprehensive claim repair, and voided my injector warranty when I complained about the shoddy repair work.

I still went and looked at a new Chevy, but a comparable Chevy LT1 was $39,500 invoice price. The Dodge was $32,500.

I just couldn't see spending that much money, especially after the "quality treatment" I had just received from the Chevy dealer ship and GM.

I did have several other small issues like a bad instrument cluster, bad fuel guage sender, steering clunk, and etc.

I have bought 3 new Chevys since 1998 all with minor and major issues. Just thought it was time to try something different. Plus, my father works oilfield and has not had any issues with his 2006 Dodge Cummins (unlike his 2001 Chevy 3500).

Ford still hasn't gotten their engine problems fixed yet, so I didn't include them.

I am curretnly looking at the dodge as well. I dont like the dpf, and dotn want to be a first year guena pig but that asian trans i drove shifted nice, and I loved the jake brake. I hope you like your new truck, around here a dually w/2wd is a huge no no. I wish I could order a 5.9 w/jake and 6spd itd be done by now. The 6.7 isnt that much different fromt he 5.9 but has that dpf

Keeping it stock for now;)

Drive ability is great! The 48re shifts/drives like a built 4L80e (had one in the 2001 6.0L) Low end power is huge compared to the Juiced Dmax!

I always complained about how "loose" and "mushy" the allison felt. The built allison I test drove (Suncoast) felt like stock most of the time.

The 48re just "feels" better. I don't seem to miss the "5th" gear from the allison. However, time will tell if the 48re will hold up. If not, the 48re is cheaper to have "built" than the estimates I had for the allison.

Noticed a few other items too.

The suspension is firm, but still rides nice. The Chevy was slightly softer on the suspension, but had a tendancy to bump/richocet/bounce on rough roads. With the Dodge you feel the bump once, not 2-5 times. On smooth roads I think they ride roughly the same.

Also, the steering is night and day different. The rack and pinion on the Dodge has great steering response and feedback. This truck tracks very well. Cross winds don't blow me all over the road anymore!:D

The windshield is completely clean after using the washers! No more having to make the wipers "wipe" multiple times to remove those last splats of water from the windshield.:)

All in all, the new truck feels more "solid" than the old one...:)

why didn't you go with the bigger cummins I drove one and was pretty impressed. I also couldn't beleive how with the 6.7 you heard vertually no engine noise in the cab a very nice inprovement over the years.

DPF issues and pricing ($3k more). I am not a fan of the new emissions junk anyways.

FWIW, the wife said the new 6.7L did NOT sound like a diesel and she didn't want it because of that..:p:

But, the 5.9L is much quieter than the 03 Dmax.

Does the 5.9 have a cat on it, or is it still a catless motor?
I was under the impression that any and all trucks built after Jan 1, 2007 had to pass the diesel particulate testing and that meant a DPF on the 5.9 motor as well as the 6.7.
I may be wrong though, has happened once before.

Anthing after jan 1st built then does have dpf, I heard some companies if they had some "non emission motors" (ie 5.9's for dodge 6.0's for ford) could still build them but doubt it..

you won't be sorry, the 06 in my sig is the first dodge I considered as well. It has over 80,000 mi. on it,and no problems. the best tow rig I have owned, but all the others were chevy's.not knocking the chev's because they held there own, but there is just a different feel of the cummins, and the 48re has performed very well. congrats.

My accessories were installed today! :ro)

Frontier Brush guard
5th wheel rails and legs (already have the head)
Spray in bed liner

And a Tough Country Dually rear bumper. The rear bumper wasn't originally part of the list. However, the hitch place special ordered the bumper for a guy who backed out of it last week. Retail price is $750 installed. The invoice price was $490. Negotiated a deal for $300 installed. :ro)

Here's the pics. We are still getting flash floods (for 3 months now! )

Truck looks good, nothing wrong with that.
I like that bumper also, looks like someone could rear end the truck at 45 and not do much damage to the truck at all.

I wouldn't mind finding a crew cab 5.9 with a manual. It has been a while since I rowed gears. I drove a mega cab with the 5.9 and a manual before I bought my Chebby. Just didn't like the ride of the truck and the seats felt like card board. Might have just been that truck though. I noticed that truck sat on the lot for a long time, and many others came and went.

Who knows, maybe it is time to give a 6.7 with a manual a test drive. I think the Dodge place has one on the lot right now.
Now if I can just convince the sales man that the truck pull at the county fair next week is a legitimate test drive. Hmmmmmm

Bought my newDodge for the exact same reasons!!! Too many little problems with my GMC and the company wants to hear nothing of it. Our other Chevy is getting EXACT same problems. All for a $45,000.00 truck. The Dodge definitely feels more like a truck but my seats SUCK:mad: So far so good on the Dodge with 8500 miles.

I tell you waht I drove a 6.7. w/the engine brake, and that new asian auto If i didtn mind the dpf id buy that truck in a heart beat. Taht new asian is supposed to be as durable as the allison (1st year out so only time will tell) but shifted nice, rode nice and loved the exhaust brake, I just dont want a truck w/a dpf, and dotn want an auto 4spd. so 5.9 w/6spd is the only way to go for me.

Gotta look at both sides of the fence to see if the grass is REALLY greener on the other side. Don't want to take one guy's word for it, right?
I stopped at the Ford dealer and took a look at an 08 Super Duty just to compare and see if there is a difference. I saw on the build it site for Ford, they are offering a manual... Twins and a stick stock from the factory. Why do I feel head gaskets being a problem. LOL..

Nice truck congrats on the new purchase

Thanks for the congrats guys!

Update:

2,500 miles.

Towed my 5th wheel for the first time this weekend. The Cummins did a wonderful job! Plenty of torque, easily and quickly accelerated. The 4-speed 48re performed flawlessly. Honestly, the Cummins doesn't need the extra gear. One thing I especially liked was that the trans would upshift sooner than the allison, but the Cummins was never "lugging", just accelerated like normal. Also, probably a dually attribute, but the truck and trailer tracked well with no sway or rocking. My previous SRW had a "knack" for rocking when a cross wind was present.

All & all, very happy with the fit/finish, performance, and economy.:D

This body style of Dodge's had been out for awhile. Does anyone know what/when are Dodge's plan to change the body style? I test drove both the Dodge and GMC diesel's on the weekend. Both have their pros and cons. I have never owned a Dodge before but for the difference in price, I am truly considering it. Gotta love the Mega cab too.

Congrats on the truck! It looks really nice. I've been thinking of a new truck which would be a GMC or Dodge. I dont like fords. My Family has always had GM. My brother has a Dodge but its a gasser. Yuk! What ever I buy it will still be a Dually! Love Duallys! One more thing how was the ride and the mileage.
