Hey guys sorry if this has already been posted. I searched around first and couldn't find it but there is so much stuff here I think i could be here for days. I just got a LMM 3500 dually and I want to add a banks chip to it whenever they decide to release it. My question is does this void my warranty. I assume that it would but I'm not really sure. I would like to keep my warranty if possible so if you guys know of something that adds hp/torque in form of a chip or programmer let me know.
Thanks,

GM totally frowns on any "power-adders" or chips for these diesel trucks. They even have a series of videos available to the dealers pointing out how to identify failures that were caused by these "power-adders".
Several months back, Allison also sent a letter to new owners of 2006 trucks telling us that transmission failures on trucks with aftermarket equipment designed to increase power would not be covered by the manufacturer's warranty.
Quite often it's up to the dealer's service department and/or the factory field rep to decide if a failure should be covered or not, so it depends on how tolerant the particular dealer might be at the time you take your truck in for warranty work. Your selling dealer might be OK with it, but if your truck breaks down somewhere in BFE, you could be SOL.
Since GM reimburses dealers for warranty work at a considerably lower rate than they can get from the general public, many unscrupulous dealers will look for the least little excuse to void the warranty and therefore charge a much higher price for the repairs.
Many owners have installed these devices on their trucks, but it is highly recommended to REMOVE THEM every time you need to visit a GM dealer.
BTW - Welcome to the Diesel Place!!!!:)

On this subject, there is an LMM dually in our shop with a check engine light. The owner has removed the aftermarket programmer, but when we sent GM the computer info they saw that the parameters were modified before. They said they know there is a guy down here that calls himself "Torque South" and tunes these trucks, and there is no way the vehicle could reach that much boost stock. Wohoo, I'm famous! After only 24 trucks, GM already knows me. And I'm getting credit for a truck I didn't even touch, LOL. Perhaps if I did, it wouldn't be having problems.
Moral of the story, I agree with RatMitch's post. At our dealer, we don't care if you're modified unless it was a direct result of a failure. It's kind of like "don't ask, don't tell". For instance a failed tranny on a supercharged truck or chipped and abused Duramax will NOT be warrantied. Everyone hates warranty, it doesn't pay. But the customer should not live in fear for customizing and upgrading their own vehicles.
