Will I screw up my 2007.5 Silverado if I replace my stock 245 tire with a 285? I don’t plan to lift truck. Just can’t stand the small tires. Everything in the manual says not to do this. Does anyone know how to reset the DIC to not give an alarm for lower tire pressure? First post been reading and learning for the last couple of days. Thanks for the help.

They will not mess up the truck and how low would you run it? I am sure there is a way to change the PSI rating on the DIC without much trouble

Thanks I was thinking it might change shift points and may mess with the transmission.

The only thing I noticed when I went with bigger tires, 315s, so much bigger than your thinking about doing was less power from a stop and much lower RPMs at highway speeds.

Do you think this could cause issues with your transmission. I installed them today and I noticed that the transmission now shifts harder. I had the truck less then 24 hours before changing tires. I put on sport king AT 285 75/16. The truck is a little unstable and as you said it doesn’t have the power form stop. I’m rubbing a little on the driver side if I turn the wheel all the way left. I don’t think it’s a big deal I’m not going to crank the torsion bars. (Don’t want to make the ride stiffer). But I am concerned about the transmission I plan to have this truck for a long while. I would be really disappointed if two tire sizes caused major issues with the transmission. After all I bought a heavy-duty truck with a “tank transmission.”

I am pretty sure you'll have to reprogram you computer so the larger tires can be accomodated for in adjusting the speedo. Plus your gas bill will go up. :)

There were 285/75/16's on it. First thing I did, after determining the size, was to check the wheel well liners. The rear portion of the liner, behind the driver's side tire, was worn clear through in one place and generally worn and ragged in the immediate vicinity.
I had the dealer switch to 265/75/16's.

You can trim your inter finder well it is not a big deal at all.
GM's trucks that they sell to the government for off road (e.g. Boarder Patrol) have 285's on them from the factory.
Cranking the TB does not make the truck stiffer unless you try to level the truck by only cranking the TB and doing nothing else.

make sure you have an inch between the upper control arm and the bump stop and look into the Cognito leveling kit. By just cranking the T bars you are liable to ware out ball joints fast.
