I'm looking for HIGH-QUALITY chrome door handles for my '04 Ex. Cab, which is the dark grey metallic color. I think that the full handle (not just the pull lever) would look good with the darker paint.


I really like the Billet XTC complete handles, but there is no way I'm going to spend that much money for door handles!


Durability is key, so are there any cheaper options?


Anyone have experience with the Putco overlays?

I am not a fan of overlays but unless you want to spend the bucks that is probably your only option.


I don't like how the overlays feel (sharp edges etc) and they look 'stick on' to me.

My friends Uncles has them on his standard cab and his is the same color. I think they stick out like a sore thumb. It's like putting a bright yellow dot on a black wall. I think you should try just the handle part and see how that looks.

i can spot a truck with overlays from a mile away and it looks very tacky IMO.


I like the look of the Escalade style handle much better

That's what I would get too. Do you know, Is that still chromed plastic or metal handle? I would like to see an Arrival Blue Chevy with them door handles and some trim and stuff.

z71, those are arrival blue handles on my truck, the pull feels better then plastic, but I dunno if it is.. dont care, it looks nice.

As dumb as it sounds, that chrome handles feels nice in your hands. The overlays feel like crap. The chrome handles feel a lot nicer then the black ones.

Is it over lay or actual handle?

I had the bucket painted when I had the door handle buckets painted. It is an overlay at the moment but I will get it chromed some day.

It sounds like you had the buckets custom painted, though. I didn't see the dark gray metallic color listed on dmaxallitech's website.

They don't make the escalades in that color so I had the escalade buckets painted.

I have the chromed rear tailgate handle. They just chromed the factory handle. Looks good and its not an overlay. I think 8.1 gasser knows the guy, I got it from him here but I can remember his name fore the life of me. I think he worked for warn or something? maybe Ben Kholer or something was his real name?

I went with the Putco overlay and you can not tell the difference. I have fooled many. Thing is to get it for the correct year. I dont have a close up, but you can see it in some of my pics. I have one in the Power and Performance section under Chebby and bad name thing. I love them and spent 40 dollars all the way around my truck.

Yeah Ben Kohler is his name who has/had the chromed tailgate handles. He goes by IGORK something. He has them on E-bay every often. Haven't seen them for a few months though. The complete door handle overlays are way too much IMO. The Escalade handles really go well with the chrome molding on the GMC's.

depending on the color, sometimes i like a little chrome and sometimes all black (on my arrival blue i like black accessories), but max powers look really nice. ive seen the full chrome and they look cheesy to me. on those darker trucks, i think the little bit of chrome sets it off with the chrome steps, trim strip, rims and bumpers. it all depends on what else you have on the truck. my blue one had black fender flairs and a black with a little chrome trim strip, so i got the black linex sprayed over the rail and just picked up my black westins steps and i like that combo. to each his own, but im just adding my 2 cents.
