For the record.

We discovered a correctly working Tec II relearn was absoultely necessary after a recently new transmission was installed in my truck. After the install the truck was place into gear and the truck kept throwing codes. Result was tranny was not working right. We discovered that the Tec II cable was bad and would not complete the relearn process. Once this was corrected, and the relearn completed, the tranny starting working correctly. Learn something everyday

I am curious how the Quad tuner relearn option compares to the relearn option of the tech 2 ?

Everytime I select the relearn option with the Quad, my truck shifts really bad for quite a while. It is more effective to just work up and down through the 4 power levels gradually.

Anywho maybe the Quad Stealth tuner relearn option, would have worked in your situation as well?

I believe you had old codes that were not cleared by the Tech 2 and that is why the relearn was not completed. You can not relearn with stored codes. I have not run into any codes at all after trans rebuild unless they were there from old trans or I set them accidentaly with low fluid on fill up. It is also possible that the defective Tech 2 cable could have triggered codes as I have done so by tapping into trans wires with a DVOM for testing. oops

Mike L,

You may have hit on the problem. The cable was discovered to be the problem with the Tech II at the dealer. For the record I did not use the Quad box to erase codes though I did look at codes 700 and 723, as I said on another post. I did not erase these codes so that the dealer could see them as well. Intereseting........ If I had erased codes with the Quad box and just started driving with the new transmission, maybe it would have worked.

Hopefully ready to run again,

New (built) tranny worked great this past weekend. Pulled my sons car (87 turbo Buick) to the Buick/Ford car race meet over the weekend. 200 miles one way. Tranny is built by an Allison group and sold through the Bully Dog company.

All is well and the Fords lost by the way. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
