: Bench harnesses wanted. Where to go?
WI Huck 07-17-2007, 10:53 PM Bench harnesses wanted. Where to go?
I had a hard time with a LBZ and it was suggested to me to get a bench harness. It was the weirdest thing where I could communicate and pull out the factory program in the accessory (one click forward) position, but no luck programming the truck in any key position.:confuzeld I am interested in all the different engine model harnesses if available.
Thanks,
Mark
TIM Z 07-17-2007, 10:56 PM Ask Guy tripp, i saw he had one in this months issue of diesel Power.
Biodiesel66 07-18-2007, 09:54 AM Mark,
What I did was buy the http://www.speartech.com/ LS1 harness to use on the LB7, buy the ECM connectors, pins for the LLY and LBZ and wired it all together. Works for all 3 controllers.:rockit:

Mark,
Might want to check with Brayden. He may be able to help.

Do you happen to have the part numbers for the connectors and pins? Or, do you not buy them from GM and get them from somewhere else like an electronics store? I will call speartech back. They did not know what I needed for the Duramax. Thanks for the help!

Get the LS1 harness, $135.00 from Speartech, I found it easier to add a second data link connector ( 12110250) to use with the LBZ, terminals for the connector, Terminal/tray: 12129484/19. LBZ connector 88988935. This connector takes 2 types of pins. Terminal/tray 1928498059/24 and Terminal/tray 1928498135/19. LLY connector 88953346, use the LLY pins for dsp.
You'll need to go to the dealer and hope you have a good contact in the parts department. The need to check the Kent-Moore terminal trays for the terminal/tray #'s
LBZ pin out
C2 -- OBDII
P1 -- P16 pos. Batt. Voltage
P2 -- P 5 and P 4 GND
P9 -- P 2 Serial Data Class 2
P21 -- ignition switch on
P44 -- P14 – GMLan High Speed Serial Data
P57 -- P 6 + GMLan High Speed Serial Data
Hope this helps

Check this thread http://dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=138168
has the picture for the LBZ pin-out.
WI Huck 08-01-2007, 03:06 PM The LBZ harness is up and running and works great! I have the connector for the LLY. Can you give me the pin map for that? Would it be a good idea to have a third OBD2 connector and use each type separate?
Thanks!
WI Huck 08-03-2007, 09:52 PM The party is getting more and more expensive every step of the way! I thought soon, but weren't we just in Indy a few days ago? Where has time gone???
Biodiesel66 08-06-2007, 08:16 AM The LB7 and LLY are on the same OBD2, The LBZ is on a separate connector. If you can put them all on 1 connector, Do it!
EFILive has the the bench harness info here http://download2.efilive.com/Tutorials/PDF/Bench%20Harness%20Tutorial.pdf
Hope this helps :)

Cougar281 08-06-2007, 08:20 AM There's nothing wrong with using the same DLC Connector... I have LLY/LS2/P12, LS1/LB7, 5 & 6 Speed Allison controllers all wired into the same DLC, and everything works fine.
