I went coast to coast last week. Heavy rain thru Ohio, Missouri, Kansas. My speedometer decided to stick at the highest level it can go. Brought it in and was told it needs replacement parts... back ordered.... 3 months????..... I have 19,800 on my truck so far.
Also, the front tires wore extremely uneven. Rippled effect from side to side and front to back. The shop says everything is good up front. See what happens after rotation. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

Did you have them actually check the alignment? I had the same thing starting to happen with mine. The front tires were rounding after only 3000 miles of use. The just "inspected" the front end components and asked me if I still wanted them to put it on the alignment rack. (that is what I had it in for mostly) They explained that it was going to be a min of something like $45 just to check the alignment. Well, they ended up having to adjust the toe on it. It seems to be wearing better. I won't know until spring/summer now since it is icy and snowing here in Alaska.

They said the alignment was correct... I looked at the invoice and there was nothing about alignment.
As far as what part is out, they did not say.

If it was found to be out of alignment, I believe that GM generally covers this as a warranty related repair up to 7500 miles. At least that is what the Service Manager at the Chevy garage told me about my Tahoe.

Yeah, but I had about 16500 on the truck. I bought it with 12900 on it. It was a demo, they couldn't sell it as new. I think the owner of the dealership had bigger tires on it before and just threw a set of stock tires back on before selling it. The tires looked like they were barely worn when I bought it and noticed them wearing funny after about 150 miles. I thought it was all in my head until I made a long road trip and I had someone following me. They told me the truck looked like it was going down the road weird. As far as the alignment goes, I would have them check the alignment. On mine the toe was far enough off to see with your eyes. (looked like one tire was pointing straight ahead while the other was cocked out a little) I was just looking down from the fender. The dealership almost pissed me off because I actually scheduled an alignment and they weren't going to do it because "everything looks ok." I'm glad I insisted on the alignment.

For the front tire wear.....on my last truck, I believe it was the
trailer towing that caused the front tires to wear funny. Taking
weight off the front. Going over bumps, etc. On mine it
cause kinda hi low hum.
Would be towing the travel trailer with weight distrubiting hitch. Still there was alot of weight taken off front.
Maybe with weight in box or towing heavy trailer?
