I have an I POD on the way, and iam trying to find out if there is any way to hard wire a cable to the factory XM/CD/cassette radio. I have a MP3 player now, and I use a Belkin Tunecast FM Wireless Modulator. It does ok, but there is alot of signal loss! I know Alpine has a new gismo out that connects an I POD to an Alpine headunit, but I dont believe that is an option for me. PACS makes a bunch of adapters/kits for these trucks, does anyone know if they have one for this purpose? Thanks all info will be greatly appreciated.

Duramaxdad,

I used the adapter from PAC products. Part number AAI-GM12. Comes with a switch so you can switch between 2 inputs. Plugs in between the OEM line into the radio and the radio. THen you plug a box into that that has 2 inputs on it. $59.99 from Good Guys.

Works like a champ. FYI, I have the Bose OEm radio with 6 disc CD changer.

Thanks for the replys guys. I went the PACS website and saw that they are coming out with the AUX POD that charges the ipod, turns it off and on, and lets you use the steering wheel controls to control the Ipod. Sounds like it is a pretty nice setup except for the $159.00+ price tag. Thanks again.

Make sure you get the right cable. I had to go with the PAC AAI-GM24 on my 03. Works great for my Sirius and DVD additions. The Sirius uses a headphone jack style output so I'll just pull it and hook to an Ipod. Well worth the money.

I did this in one of my other cars. What I did was found the Auxillary input jacks on the back of the radio(this is where you would plug in a dvd player or something like that). i took RCA cables and plugged the one end into the jacks and the other ends into an adapter that adapts two male end RCA jacks into one 1/8" male end(this is the size of your headphones) then you just plug it into the i pod and the music plays. Radio must be set to AUX to hear the sound.

I recently installed an aux-pod from PAC-Audio in my 05LLY. (it has recently been renamed from aux-pod to IPOD2CAR - but according to PAC-AUDIO it's the same product. Works fantastic - charges the IPOD - HOWEVER - in the 05LLY it does NOT turn off the IPOD automatically and the steering wheel controls do NOT work for forward/reverse. But hey - those were just icing as far as i'm concerned. I'm running the factory Bose with XM... it sounds fantastic. Have to unplug the IPOD from the cable when listening to XM - or I do get audio interference - only when listening to XM though - not any other band.

Well worth it in my opinion.. i've blown more than $150 buying every FM Transmmitter made trying to find an acceptable one - should've started with this.

I have been looking at getting the aux-pod (IPOD2CAR) for some time now. So what functions do the steering wheel buttons control?

I have tried the FM modulators, too. In an area like Chicago, it is getting hard to find a frequency that doesn't have a broadcast already. You have to keep switching frequencies all the time.

Do you think there is an advantage of the aux-pod over the AAI-GM24 and a 12 volt charger?

In my 02 you get to use the track up and down function thats it , according to PAC they are going to upgrade but they dont know when or what it will do. Now I just need to find a way to mount it so it isnt slidding all over the cab.

I'm a little upset now. Getting my Ipod tonight and was hoping I'd be able to use the factory controls on the steering wheel to control the Ipod. Just got off the phone Dension in regards their dension ice plus. They told me that it does this and more, only problem is they do not offer it for the 03 models. They offer it for 92-02 and then 04-present. Something to do with the communictions. THIS JUST PLAIN BLOWS!!!!!!!!!

What do I do now?
