From what I have read on hear injector #6 & #8 are out of spec right.
I have a little bit of smoke at idle but a couple of weeks ago it seemed worse.

Actually injector 3,6 and eight are out of spec. Do you have fuel in the oil?

Nope. Besides a little bit of smoke at idle, that is it. I can barly see the smoke now. A couple weeks ago it seemed worse.

How many miles on the truck and are they the original set?

Almost 80K and yes they are the 1st set. Why would #3 be out of spec and not #8?

+/- 3 is the "normal" range for injectors a tad over 3 isnt too bad but may be going out.

how are you doing these tests? holding brake in drive and ramp up RPM's to around 2000 hold for a couple seconds then let out of it as quickly as possible.. Alot has to do on how they will "rebound"/settle out..

The manual says nothing about rebound or settle-out...
+/-4 in park
+/-6 in drive

The 1st set is at idle with the motor warm and the second set is with the truck in drive with the brake on at idle.

FYI...balance rates aren't covered in the Special policy, but the smoke is...

Should I leave it until it gets worse or take it in. If they are going to charge me then I will wait. The smoke is pretty hard to see.

Here is what it actually says:

"Some customers of 2001-03 model year Chevrolet Silverado; GMC Sierra; 2003 Chevrolet Kodiak and GMC TopKick vehicles, equipped with a 6.6L Duramax Diesel (RPO LB7 - VIN Code 1) engine, may experience vehicle service engine soon (SES) light illumination, low engine power, hard start, and/or fuel in crankcase, requiring injector replacement, as a result of high fuel return rates due to fuel injector body cracks, ball seat erosion, or high pressure seal extrusion (refer to Corporate Bulletin Number 04-06-04-007 and SI)."

I don't think they did the return test on mine. I think the dealer used the balance rates along with the symptoms to get GM to agree to replacement, even though it says return rates.

My mistake...smokes not covered...
