I was just wondering what the going rate for a used tranny would be. I was thinking that if one could get a decent price for the one in their truck, they could sell it, then buy a complete unit from Suncoat or ATS. Then you would have more holding power than say a level III Suncoast for about the same money. I also figured that there would be less labor involved because you would just be swapping one out and putting one in(no internal work needed). Even though that is the hard part. If you can find a good used trans for 1800, your doing well. Likely it will cost you more then that. Not really a huge demand for used transmissions out there.. They are worth 1400 as a core alone


If a LIII is 3500 installed and a L V is 5300 plus install of approx 500.

Last spring I swapped these figures around till I was blue. I came to the conclusion that I either stay at a low level up grade, or go all the way, but either way I was not going to give up my good transmission for a $1400 core charge. So if I chose ultimate level at the time I would end up spending approximately $5800 + vs $3800 + -.
