a buddy of mine watches the P/S forums and saw a tank mod discussed.
basically the reason the pump nozzle shuts off during fillup
prematurely is that the overflow tube hangs down into the tank about
4-5 inches. during fillup, the diesel gets sudsy, and once the bottom
of the overflow tube is covered, the suds start climbing up the fill
tube instead of the overflow, eventually reaching the pump nozzle and
causing shutoff before the tank is full... for me, the first 95L go in
fast, and the next 30 litres in the tankfill go very slowly and i have
to let it dribble in to avoid the suds.
well, i now have this fixed http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif. recently
my truck was in for another warranty pump, and since GM found metal in
my tank, it was removed, chemically cleaned, and re-installed. while it
was off, i asked the dealer to reach in and cut off all but the last
inch of the overflow tube that hangs into the tank. well he did it, and
next fillup, i put the nozzle on auto, and it didnt click off until
125L were in there. all that was left was the fill tube, which took a
bit more and it was over...and no suds.
anyone else tried this?
