Just came across a LB7 PPE Xcelerator programmer that in its highest level can add 230hp and 450lb/tq, and also raised the rev limiter to 4,000. 4,000?!?!?! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley29.gif Anyone crazy people here ran it yet? Just curious how the Dmax response to it and how its holding up to 4000RPM. Just can't imagine how a dmax sounds revving to 4 grand...

crap, now I just seen the same one but it says 300 hp and 600 lb/tq with a 4500PRM rev limit. No way a motor can hold up to that for long. but it would be fun until then!

searched on it and didn't really get the answers I was looking for. Hoping someone with a hot version will make a couple more comments than what has already been talked about.

More than a few pullers and drag racers are over 4000 rpm w/ Dmax.

I ran my TTS tuned truck to 4k. Yes it sounds wicked. Yes it held together. No I wouldnt do it on a daily basis. Power is well past the peak, its more of a puller thing so they can fall into the curve. ANy one trying to go fast at the drag strip isnt trying to strech shifts to 4k. Look were the stock duramax will grade brake to. GM wouldnt have it spinning so high it was floating valvetrain and tossing pistons off the rods stock. Spinng the motor to 4k isnt quite like having grandma borrow the truck to run and get icecream but I dont think its going to invite imidiate destruction....JMO
Also JMO but I really like my TTS extremehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

The Allison won't let you go there under normal circumstances anyhow. Extended RPM is primarily for top speed, and some use it for truck puklling, but like mentioned abovem, there isn't a lot to gain in the UPPER RPM's with the stock turbo.
The claimed numbers you posted are calculated flywheel numbers. The 230 claim runs an identical curve to the Bully Dog 150 and the BD Intimidator top tune. The Hot version, I haven't yet seen.
