duramaxdude 10-25-2004, 11:58 PM Hey guys i am new here and was wondering if any of you guys have tried the Precision Torque converter. They make an awesome converter for the Fords. Its a three disk billet. I run one in 2 of my fords. I was wondering because i know they make one for the Allison and was wondering because i thought about trying one in a buddys truck.... http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif The price is $934.42 and comes with a 2 year warranty. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif its a heavy duty multi-disc lockup converter . What do you guys think? Thanks in advance.........Mike Edited by: duramaxdude

Burner 10-26-2004, 12:21 AM Let me be the First to WELCOME you to the site! There is a bunch of stuff here for the Duramax. You'll find lot's of info about power boxes and reflash boxes as well as Turbo stuff, coolant stuff, gear lube stuff, Lot's of Allison stuff, tire stuff, different lights and so on. It's really hard to read "every thing" posted. This Place is unlike so many other sites. It seems like almost every answer is correct. There is little disagrement on regular stuff. This site is really a great Place to be!
Oh, you might want to do a search on certain questions...first. We have reviewed soooo much, it's nuts.

You can not buy an Allison converter from Precision for 934.32. That is the price for a 4R100 Ford converter. They have no set price for the Ally.

Your right i did send that to you....I said in due time i would...I first sent an email to the owner of the web site "DIESEL POWER" explaining and asking what they thought. Since its the right thing to do first. He said to go ahead and only post the facts.
Let me explain......I posted a question about the precision Torque converter. You said that it couldn't be gotten for that price........Well i sent you a p.m. containing an email that i had gotten from Precision. You then proceed to write me back saying that you called and talked to them and had the price raised. In my opinion it seems like your not supporting this sport ,just trying to make all the money you can and don't give a ratsass about anyone. Well whatever floats your boat MIKE. Here is a copy of the p.m. you sent me incase you forgot...
"I hope you got your converter at the price you stated. I made a phone call to Terry and had the prices raised. Call Jack again.
mike "
Here is a copy of a email that i got from Precision
<DIV>"We do make a heavy duty multi-disc lockup converter for the Allison (Duramax). It sells for $934.42 and comes with a 2 year warranty. There is a $200.00 core charge that will be refunded once we get your converter back. It would be better though if we could get it first, as to avoid the core charge".</DIV>
"The 'new' Powerstroke converter is the same as far as the price and the converter inside but the hub is just shorter".
"Jobber on the Powertroke is $886.16".
Precision Industries 800-649-7866
The info above is FACT ONLY....not opinionhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
Now it is my opinion that you were upset that they made a converter that is good and cheaper that the Suncoast products that you sell..
Just my 2 cents....
Well you suceeded as i am done with this forum....it's too bad as i just became a member. As this was my first post. And i can spend my time and money else where. As we just started a diesel club here in Georgia. "G.O.B. " "GEORGIA OIL BURNERS"

Mike L. 10-31-2004, 09:50 PM The wrong price was quoted by Jack at Precision. I made sure that this was rectifyed so there would be no problem with missinformation. duramaxdude; you accused me of calling Precision Converter and having the price raised to fall in with Suncoast. That is total bs; I do not have that kind of influence and neither does anyone else. I think you are mad cause I brought the mistake to Terrys attention. Bett you are the kind of guy that would take advantage of everybody and anybody to get what you want. Isn't that why you called me an asshole?
Burner 10-31-2004, 10:07 PM Ok, I see what happened. Dura called and got an incorrect quote and Mike cought it. Being a friend to the transmission folks, and everybody, Mike L stepped up and told them.
If your buddy drops a 10$ bill......... do you pick it up and hand him a 5 or the 10$ bill that he dropped?
..... sure is good to have a Dog!
Burner--------------->http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
duramaxdude 10-31-2004, 10:11 PM I think you are assuming..... you never said it was wrong price...just that you called and had him raise the price. as you said...
I made a phone call to Terry and had the prices raised. Call Jack again.
You never said anything about wrong price and that they were rectifyed as i copied your p.m.'s to me.
All i was doing was sharing info with people on here mike...
Mike L. 10-31-2004, 10:17 PM duramaxdude
I did not like your pm or your attitude. I just wanted to rub it in your face that you should NOT take advantage of people. You would not like it, would you?

duramaxdude 10-31-2004, 10:30 PM Hey Mike....you can call me MIke...lol
Trippin 10-31-2004, 10:50 PM Duramaxdude,
We are off to bad start. Let's start over. Welcome to the forum.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley31.gif
Mike L. is an excellent source of transmission knowledge. He is also a stickler for details. Which makes him good at what he does. He won't put up with misinformation as that stuff can spread like wildfire and affect many people very quickly. Hopefully you and Mike can respect each other's opinion regarding this matter and move on.
You will find this forum to contain some of the best information on the internet. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley16.gif Not taking advantage of it would certainly be your loss.

You made a statement without knowing the facts. That's fine and I respect that. The administrators agree with you and I defer to their judgement. I apologize for this incident ( I was not asked to do so but I am). I have had arguments with people on this board and other boards and have never been called the names that I was called by this person. I have never called people names or disrespected them. Just so you know.
mike
kbstinky 11-01-2004, 10:43 PM Having dealt with Mike L., I respect him and any information that he posts, professes, expounds, exhorts, or toots.
He is full of bs, and maybe that is why I like him.
However, I have never known him to walk into a NEW group of people and start SHOUTING.
Why did Duramaxdude walk in with what "I" perceive as a chip on his shoulder. If you ask a question, sometimes you get answers you may not like.
Having recently dealt with Mike L, on a professional level, and being ignorant of what would be good for my D/A I ask a lot of questions. Mike saved me money because the optional things that I thought would be good for me he said I really didn't need. I could have spent another many 100's but he is honest enough to tell me I didn't need them.
If Mike says that the Precision is a decent TC then it probably is. Any pricing would not be generated by him, but by the manufacurer. But why would anyone that represents one company, try to sell you anothers product.
I vote for and support Mike L.
My .02 worth.................
Burner 11-01-2004, 11:10 PM We all get bent out'a shape and forget how to pose questions .....and answer them as well. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif However, knowing both sides of the story... I'll side with Mike L.
I'm not one for deletion...but.... whomever was the "first" to call out and post a PM is most likely the instigator. ... think about it.
We should never have seen this...... it should have remained behind closed doors. period. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley18.gif

duramaxtom 11-04-2004, 09:17 PM Mike L. is a top transmission person, he did my duramax and I'm going to have him do my dodge here soon. After reading through this thread, theduramxdude was way out of line, had a chip on his shoulder, and to be honest, is probably a peach picker during the day.
Mike L. gets my vote.

arguy 11-09-2004, 09:04 PM The hole http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif, "oh I guess that is spelled whole" string is interesting so far.... So is anyone running one of these $900 converters? Also I see JEGS is selling a BD converter for a little over 1K, and they also have a BD Allison for ~4.5K. Any experience with this manufacturer? I am not ready to buy anything just yet. These prices are minus the core charges.
Mike L. 11-09-2004, 10:30 PM There are no 900.00 dollar converters from any quality converter rebuilder and thats a fact. There are billet covers(so they say) coming from china for 75.00 bucks to the rebuilder. You want one of these? Don't be surprised to see yak hairs in your spin on and metal chunks in your pan.
mike
john@dps 11-10-2004, 12:04 AM Heck, I'll buy one just to see the yak hairs.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif Hi Mike, hope things are going good. I'll try to get down to see you some time.

arguy 11-10-2004, 07:28 PM I just asked the question. I did not really want to add to the slug fest. I did want to know opinions about "BD Diesel Performance" converters and transmissions. "Billet front cover" is one of their sales points, but they say "many models". And that the billet cover is for clutch surface strength.
On a second note, do they use the yak hair for clutch material? They do state "Clutch surface area enhanced". http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif Just poke'n a little fun.....
DWilson 11-10-2004, 10:17 PM "You made a statement without knowing the facts".
The facts are what I read. If you want to add anything, post it.
"That's fine and I respect that. The administrators agree with you and I defer to their judgement. I apologize for this incident ( I was not asked to do so but I am)".
What are you apologizing for?
"I've had arguments with people on this board and other boards and have never been called the names that I was called by this person. I have never called people names or disrespected them. Just so you know".
A question would be: Why do you argue with those on any board?
Mike L. 11-10-2004, 10:41 PM DWilson
What exactly are you looking for from me? You seem to be stirring the pot, but for what reason? Why don't you try and contribute something to this board instead of calling me out. Your time would be better spent reading the tech from our members and learning something instead of having a know it all attitude and assuming things you know nothing about.
mike
DWilson 11-10-2004, 10:58 PM Mike
I am only looking for a better understanding of my newly acquired Duramax. That's all. I am not looking to call anyone out. If I could contribute to the knowledge this board possesses, I would. But I don't have the skill or the background to do this. That's why I'm here. However, I take strong exception to anyone who, whatever their skill level is, jumps on anyone, however insignificant their question is, just because they may sound new, uneducated, unskilled or whatever. You apparently are blessed with a skill that this board has a desparate need for. Don't let it go to waste by pissing people off.
Mike L. 11-10-2004, 11:21 PM DWilson
My service and skills will not go to waste. I see you are really trying hard to get the response out of me you are looking for but it won't work. Go back and read your post with the questions and then read your last post. Do they make sense? Was I not civil to you in all my answers? Whom exactly are you refering to as being pissed off? You? If so why? Whom did I jump on with the insignificant question?
mike
