I was pulling my car home with my 03' dually which has about 80000 miles on it ,yesterday and noticed that once it warmed up it seemed to lose power.I pulled out to pass a vehicle and all I got was a loud blowing noise kind of like a blow dryer and then started to fade away and you could hear the turbo spool up and the power come on.The engine temp is good but it seems like it happens most if the tranny temp is up a bit but not anywhere near the red though .Any info would be a big help.

Check intercooler boots . May have one blown off or ripped... You have any gauges? What was boost?

How long had the truck been running when it did this? Could be the infamous fan, but also check the boots. That could be an issue as well. Have read that with the fan engaged that noise is there and seems like truck has no power during that phase.

Fan meaning the radiator fan fully engaged and then unlocked while under full throttle.

Possibly, but it seems louder than a hair drier sound you describe. I think the earlier fans (your year truck) had issues with the fan engagement. I would think a hair drier noise would be turbo related, meaning a torn boot leaking air, and as the turbo spooled up, the boost was able to overcome the leak.

Another option I'd say is try the fuel filter.... Out in Northwest Mexico here I notice these engines get extra pissy wih fuel pressures when you're sporting triple digit temps and 80% humidity...

Changed fuel filter and installed K&N.I now seem to have better power but the blowing sound is still there.Any other ideas for anyone else?
