Drain plug threads are not tapered .. it seals with an integral o-ring gasket .. also has magnet at the tip - remove with a 3/8 rachet ... as Joe said Fill plug has a plastic (nylon) gasket .. I use a little anti-seeze on the threads and a dab of silicone grease on the gaskets - torque each to 24 ft-lbs ...

Thanks. Also, what quantity of oil does the 11.5 take?

My 03 holds about 4 quarts (spec is 3.83) but I believe the fill spec was reduced on the later models ... try searching the forum .. overfilling can cause the axel seals to leak ... also use only Synthetic fluid - 75w90 GL5 .. 75w140 can be used for heavy towing ... I use Mobil-1 .. GM version, known as "Grape Juice" for it's aroma and color, is approx $25 (or more) ...
