1st Post here.
I bought the truck above this month. The belt chirps at cold startup every time. Salesman said it was armour all. Engine build may possibly be pre June 2004
I have been following a thread http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16121&K (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=16121&KW=belt+chirp) W=belt+chirp
Socaldieseltech was nice enough to post a Bulletin on this item
PIP#3138 - (09/15/2004) GM part #97362175
The Service manager was given this information and told me the Updated Part # for this is #97386417
Part costs $184.56 and is not available in Canada (here that is)
He says the Mechanic will try and shim the powersteering pump in order to eliminate the chirping. If that doesnt work he will replace the bracket under warranty.
My question to the Techs:
Is shimming a decent fix for this problem or should the Bracket be replaced. Just wondering about problems in the future with belt or power steering pump.
I am trying to attach an image with the belt touching the inboard side of the fan pulley, (should the belt be more centered on the fan pulley?)
Thanks.
