Just got my oil analysis back and my copper was 78 at 6,000 miles and 178 at 22,000. My friend just did his at 40,000 and he has 600!!! Copper. Both trucks are in Socal and use Delvac 1 5-40. All other levels were normal. Oil is changed every 7,500 - 10,000 miles.

What would could cause high copper??? Any thoughts???

Thanks,

Marco Polo

bearing wear products. Flush your oil pan next oil change and see if it goes down.

also possible it could be coming from the oil cooler.

Blackstone labs mentioned the oil cooler and Turbo bearings.

Why would the oil cooler lose copper?? Is it from the vibration or just residue from the manufacturing process???

My friend (600ppm) just sent his oil in for analysis. I will post his results in a few days.Edited by: marco polo

I think my high copper readings are from the thing sucking every last penny out of my pocket for fuel.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley19.gif

My friend (600ppm) just sent his oil in for analysis. I will post his results in a few days. copper material breaks loose from element and goes with the oil flow. Had to changed out several coolers on late model c-15 caterpillars for the same reason. It could be the turbo bearings, but at that rate the turbo should of be on the edge of failure.
