I took my truck into the dealership for the LLY recalibration and update. I have a aftermarket alarm installed on my truck. The dealership said they hooked up the computer to the truck and it blew the Power Module system for the truck. They said the alarm was hooked up wrong and shouldn't of been hooked up to the P2 data wire. My alarm was perfessionally installed by a shop that does thousands of alarms the same way. I've also called several other alarm shops and asked them if the alarm could of caused this and they all agree the alarm couldn't of caused this problem. My truck is still under warrenty and they said the SM might get the part covered under the warrenty, but I might have to pay for the labor.

My question is has anyone else had this problem? Is the dealership just trying to get me to pay for the part that they broke? Any options that I can take against the dealership?

Wellup, after fighting and fighting with the dealership today they are paying for all the labor and diagnostics that they where going to charge me. They where going to charge me $380 for the labor. The SM said the part he was warranty out of the "kindness of his heart" and that the alarm was hooked up wrong and caused the problem. I talked to several other service departments that I have friends at and they said the dealership I took it to was trying to do me wrong.

I'd still like to know if anyone else has had this same problem with a dealership or with the Power Tran Control Module. Has anyone had any problems with aftermarket alarms installed that cause the Power Tran Control Module to go out?
