After 22000 miles on my factory stock D/A I bought a Predator and
installed the Level 2 tune (65hp/150tq). I started with a full tank and
right away I noticed that the DIC was indicating mpg (both instant and
cumlative) was way too high and that gallons used was way too low. At
the first refill indicated DIC numbers were off at least 20% from the
real pen and paper calculated numbers. I keep very accurate recordings
of all fuel used so I know there is something unusual is going on as
since new the DIC would always read about .5 mpg low and with a 30
gallon fill about 1 gallon more used than could be pumped . Actural
fuel use hasn't changed much but the DIC numbers are way off.

What about the rest of you, are you seeing the same discrepancies or do your DICs read more normal?

Yes this is normal. They wnat you to feel that you are getting an awesome deal. The predator is a beast, and there is no reason for them to actually do this. It would sell regardless.

Same problem with the Edge Juice also! Even fuel guage shows fuel in the tank when it's empty now.

Hey Fellas, The "drive by wire" system has a calibrated value that the DIC works with. When you change this value, i.e.the pedal responce is quicker, the hard numbers do not change with the performance program. Pedal applied stock @ 25% in 5th gives you 3X fuel @ 8x timming, yeilding 75MPH and 18 MPG. Now, if you add a program to the mix.....all of that is changed. The pedal is now @ 22% in 5th with 3 or 4X fuel @20x timming, yeilding 75MPH and 30MPG according to the computer. It's much more complicated than what I have shown but it's just to give you an Idea. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Burner, thanks for the explanation. I've been wondering if the fuel use was caluclated or measured. Not to start a new MPG thread but now I understand why there are so many that claim they get a gazillion MPG when in fact they probably don't. Climbing into my Nomex suit now.
