Ok, so there are a lot of touchy people out there on this subject. But I am not trying to change any minds about the truck you bought, I just want a solution. Any suggestions on auxilary diesle gas tanks? I am pulling a 9000 pound (empty weight) fifth wheel trailer, so I have a hitch in teh bed along with a Roll N Lock cover, What are my options for gas tanks? Can't fit the 50 gallon tank/tool box, go under the bed?
Northern did have a 27 gallon tank, can't find it these days. Don't want to pay for a custom designed tank, anyone out there to provide some help (from your experience, not your opinion)

Titan Supertank. It won't ADD 50 gallons, but on the SB, it will give you a total of about 52 gallons, or double your stock tank.
Expect around $1200 with installation.

Northern tool has a 37 gal aux tank made by RDS manufacturing...never saw the 27 you talk about but the 37 gal. might work for you.

Transferflow tanks, if installed according to manufacturers instructions, are ALWAYS DOT certified and legal in all states. Only aftermarket gas or diesel tank manufacturer that does all their tanks that way. They are OE tank and system developers for many Fords and some GM. Their manufacturing facilities are first class, large, and expensive. All of their tanks are tested twice before final paint, and then retested. They welcome you to inspect their facilities. Lots of other tank manufacturers build good workable tanks and many are DOT certified. The problem normally shows up in installation in which many installers and owners intentionally or unintentionally void DOT certification in installation. What does DOT certification matter? Doesn't until you are checked when stopped for something else or you have a problem and want to make an insurance claim from a vehicle fire or have the insurance company defend you where they can tie anypart of the accident or resulting injury to a tank and installation that does not meet DOT certification. It is called NO INSURANCE and it is bad news. I have had over 20 aux tanks over the years from building them myself to Aero, Northern Tool, and several other manufacturers. Only one was a problem, and that was from a marine manufacturer in Lake Havasu, AZ. I have been checked twice by DOT (in the midwest on I-80, in Texas on I-10) when towing, and got a warning once becausing my tank was not DOT labeled (hookup at that time was legal, but no DOT label), and the second time passed because it was a transferflow with DOT label (They recognized the label!!!). I now spend the extra $ for a transferflow because they are always DOT legal if installed properly, and are recognized by at DOT checks.
Probably 20 to 25% more expensive. Choose your own poison!

Guess I'll just add that to the long list of other laws I break.
