Not sure if this is the right place to post or not........

I went into the Dealership this Morning to ask them some question about my truck, anyways i got to talking to the Diesel teck and he told me that they are currently experimenting with offering EFI Live as a GM performance product. From what he was telling me you pay $180 to have GM program your truck with EFI Live and they record your VIN number. Once you pay to have it programmed and once they have your VIN on file you can go in and have it re-programmed as many times as you want and not have any warranty issues since they are classifying it as a GM performance product. I’m not that failure with this program but I am assuming it has several different power levels to choose from along with an economy setting. he told me that the program shows the same performance gains as and Edge and it also helps with the fuel economy of the truck, the only down side is that you would probably need to get a set of gauges to help monitor some engine vitals (at least i would) and you have to go to a dealership to get a new power setting rather than a shift on the fly selector. You also wouldnt have the same safety fitures that the Edge programmer has built in. But I think having a minor tune set in the truck would be well worth it.

Has anyone heard of this yet? Does it sound as though it might be a good deal?

Please let me know if this idea is Ludicrous

Ummmmmm......sounds like BS. Sounds like the DEALER will be doing this and you may get warantee from them. But GM isnt going to use EFI live to make tunes and then let thier customers have em. EFI live is a tuning tool. GM can write what ever program they want without EFI live ;)

It may be an OK deal if your dealer is cool. They write you a program for your truck at a very reasonable cost and then take care of you come warantee time if there is one as long as you wernt negligent.

You will also be stuck going to this dealer for warantee work as if another dealer found out you were tunned you would probably be SOL ;)

Havent heard of it but I suppose its possible, with EFI Live the power capability is way more than most all other off the shelf programmers. I suppose if they did do it at least they would know just how much tuning was going into the truck. I would believe that a dealer could offer this option on their own, just as the dealer I purchased from sells all kinds of aftermarket performance add ons and accessories and they warranty every bit of it. I often wonder why GM uses an injection pump and injectors capable of 500+RWHP:eek: I think they know exactly what the trucks are capable of with a few tweeks and bolt ons and I also think they want to stay on top of the diesel performance world. Althought I doubt youll ever hear a GM executive admit it:D

Well I went over to my dealership today and asked about it. They have heard about it but they don't know if its a "vicious rumor goin around" or what. All the guy could tell me was GM is thinking about it but thats as far as it has gotten so far. Only time will tell.

IMO as big as diesel performance is getting it's only a matter of time until we see the GM Performance Parts division getting involved and releasing products for the Duramax.
