At the track yesterday the tranny let loose coming off the line. I was able to get the truck home 50 miles away, but could barely get up my driveway.

See sig for combo. For my rebuild can I flush the tranny cooler and Convertor ? Hate to waste a Suncoast Tripple loc.

Do you think the TL is ruined? There is a way to flush the cooler, see other post I think Hoot has a step by step procedure. I don't remember if anyone has posted how to flush the convertor though?

Yep, gonna get me a new transmission. I was wondering if the converter and cooler could be saved by flushing. ???? Edited by: gmccall

gmccall,

What settings did you have the Hjat and Quad in? Are you launching 2wd or 4wd?

Thanks!

On the dyno Saturday, I was able to move the H/J Attitude off 0 to level 3. I always run Quad on 215. I managed another 20hp this way. Levels 4 would cause the burst issue or what ever it does.

Always launch 4 wheel drive unless I forget. I get no traction with just 2 wheel. There is just too much torque there.

I have heard on here that the OE clutches were good for 500rwhp. 493rwhp is really close to 500...............not a bad guess.

Did you need 4-wheel drive to get rolling from a stop?

c1s probably...........how much boost before launch

Don't know the boost.

I was trying to foot brake it at the line and hold right before the tires would brake loose and push me through the lights. I wait till the first yellow light comes down and try to hammer it to the right "spot". Did not see my boost. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif

I need to find the right boost or RPM I know, but this way I am not holding the strain on the tranny and converter very long. I have seen guys pull up to the lights and power up before the other guy gets his first stage light. I have seen "melt downs" on the starting line. N/A but In the Buick/Ford meets in our area the track had to set a time limit for the Fords to stage. The non-turbo Fords would cause the rookie turbo Buick guy to burn the tranny at the line by late staging. Edited by: gmccall

A way to get away from that I found was to light the first bulb. Hang out there if the other guy hadnt staged yet. Once the other guy lite his first bulb or if he was already staged I would start building boost to were i wanted and let off the brake a bit to creep forward and then squash back down when I hit the second bulb. Worked well for all the different kindsa people I was staging against. If he was late or early it didnt matter. Plus as a nice thing to the other guy I wouldnt be sitting there before he got close to the line with both my bulbs lit. It kinda frazzeled me when I was "late getting there" when the other guy was ready to go. I'm were I want to be for launch psi even if I'm late to the party and I'm not hanging there forever staged sitting on 10 psi of boost. Watching guys stage is like watching a ball player getting ready to bat. Every body does it differnt and has thier routine and no bodys is right or wrong.

New high performance tranny in and working so far. Pulled my son's car on my car hauler 450 miles over the weekend.

Should have built the first one better. A lesson I learned a long time ago , but then I was going to be happy with 400 hp too and did not need more. bla bla bla ...... ha

For the record, the tranny man said my Transynd fluid was clean with no debris in the old tranny that went south. It smelt burnt to me and slipped like hell anyway.
