: Is A Special Tool Required?

This is a fitting on the passenger’s side of the radiator of my wife’s ’01 Duramax. I think it is one of the transmission cooling lines. My question is: Is there some sort of special tool required to remove this fitting? The plastic ring has a series of small slots or holes around the periphery so I was wondering if it was some sort of quick disconnect?

The plastic clip is just a retainer, slide it off, it kind of snaps on. Under it is a "Jesus clip" You'll know what I mean if it goes flying on you. Remove the clip and that is all that holds the line in.

In other words you don't need a wrench.

Slide back the plastic cover

Pull out the wire clip

Get a bucket

Pull out the line.

The hex portion is only for the install of the fitting itself. You don't touch that part.

Your best bet is to hook the clip with a pick(like the dentistry type they are real cheap) then throw a rag over it and pull. Then no yelling for the almighty's helphttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif
