Mine is straight piped and trust me its NOT that loud... I had a 98 Cummins that I Straight piped and you could hear it a mile away... Very loud in the truck also. I would say at Idle it just sounds like a Gaser with a Flowmaster on it. At higher rpms its realy not loud at all. I get a little rumble in the truck at lower RPMS but nothing above say 2000rpm's. Hope that helps a little I don't have a sound bit for you though. To tell you the truth I wish it was louder...http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

Its not loud if your not on it. Not really loud cruising with the windows up, can barely hear it. Heavy throttle is another story. If you are in it hard you can set off car alarms. I also was accused of "trying to incite a riot" by the local PD and that was about 1/2 throttle. I would say try to find some people local and hear one in person. The early lb7 duramax sounds alot like a gasser. Sounds better than a stroke IMO. LLY's sound more like a new 6.0 IMO

My truck is not as loud as my son's dakota 4.7L V8. He has the
short flowmasters dualed out & at lower speeds, his truck is louder
than mine.

Howsomever, when I hit crusing speeds (75 - 80 mph) you can here a lite rumble in the cab.

I know it is pretty loud outside, cause whenever I go under an overpass
at speeds, the echo back sounds pretty good even thru the closed
windows.

But at the same engine RPM's / speeds, my sons truck is always louder than mine

Hope this helps!

if you want it a loud rumbling inside i recommend 4 inch exhaust and stacks. I did it and love it plus it looks awesome.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley20.gif

It's not loud during normal driving. It's not nearly the same as a Cummins straight piped. Two Ford diesel owners on my street didn't even notice the sound change. It is loud during hard accelerations, but normal driving it's fine. The main issue is when towing heavier loads. The noise when towing can really get on your nerves if its a long drive.
