Kennedy afair offers a wiring kit for the pyro and a tubing kit for the boost gauge. Ordering the kits makes installation easier as you don't have to find tubes and plugs that fit --- and if you find some, they'll cost some money, too. Thus, the kits will pay out.

You'll also need the probe for the pyro; don't forget to order it, too.

The gauges and the probe are of very good quality, and I like the design very much. Also, they fit very nicely to the standard instrument cluster. They may not be the cheapest gauges available, but they're very well worth the money, and I can really recommend them.

I've removed the stock radio and installed a 2mm aluminium plate in front of the radio shaft; three gauges will fit into the plate. The radio will be replaced with an aftermarket one which is smaller; I still need to decide where to install it.

I can take some pics of the panel tomorrow or so and post them.

I got my gauges from Gomer's Diesel - Missoula. They also had a 3 gauge pillar pod - basically a standard Autometer piece in Black - can easily be painted to match the interior. ( Summit Racing carries them also) By the time you get all the pieces to get the gauges functional, the $ runs up, but most sites will total about the same - just make sure you're getting all the pieces necessary to do the job when you're cost comparing.

The other decision to make - with ISSPRO Pyro is where to mount the EGT probe - it effects the "colored" range on the gauge. I did the pre-turbo install, as Kennedy has on his site - scary at first, but went smoothly - and with lots of grease and incrementally increasing the drill sizes I passed on doing the drill and tap with the engine running and exhaust blowing out the chips.

Just make sure you've included all the parts needed.

i got mine from summit. It came as a kit from autometer part # 2654. No coloered reanges so you can mount it either pre or post turbo and it goes to 1600 degrees which should cover about any need you have for it.

on a '94 this works well if you don't have the origional radio. the backlighting is connected to the dash lights so they dim with the others. people say "tight!" when they see ithttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif

The best price I could find on guages was

They come with the wiring/tubing/temp probe. He also carries the pillar pods, and his Cust. Service was great. I also intalled my Pyro before the turbo. Real PITA, but I'm happy with the results. Just be careful with the shavings.

Here's the pic I promised:

There's a stripe of black adhesive tape at the bottom of the plate. It jumps into the eye on the picture only; when looking at the gauges, you almost don't see it. It covers the white plastic carrier of the climate controls and keeps the light from shining through below the plate. It shall be replaced with a piece of black foam tape, that will look better. The installation hasn't been finished yet --- some other wires still stick out of the dashboard; the boost gauge is working, but the pyro probe isn't installed yet.

Below the climate controls, eventually the controlling device for the engine/parking heater will be installed.

And I need to find a nice place for the aftermarket radio. A CB radio will be installed, too. Any suggestions where to put the radios?

lupey, looks like tight work :)

i wonder if you could fit 2" gauges in the cubby hole underneath the climate controls. have to do some measurin in the morning. would be nice because i dont really want to move my radio. i was gonna put a scanner in there.

steiner, standard size gauges (52mm) do not fit into the cubby hole. Mine would have gone there if they did :)

BTW, how can I get the insert that´s inside the cubby hole out of it? I tried once, but it refuses to be moved ...

that little insert in the front of the cubby hole? on my old truck i took a screwdriver and worked it out. i think there might be glue holding it in. not sure.

i think im gonna try and make the gauges fit in the cubby hole. i think if i take a piece of 1/2" thick black plastic, round the edges, drill the holes for the gauges, and then fix it on the out side of the cubby hole just so it cover the hole. i dont have that fancy wood stuff on the outside of my dash. dont know if it will work or not.Edited by: steiner43511
