: Turbo + Tip
wanaDmax 07-06-2007, 09:14 PM 1. so, i was at the dealer the other day, and asked them if i take the cat off of a diesel, will it void the warranty? then he throws this crap in and says, well, you wouldnt have enough backpressure. i thought the turbo took care of the pressure. but i wasnt confident. so i said ok.
1a. does the turbo take care of it?
1b. will it void my warranty?
2. has anyone thought about putting a 6 inch tip on their exhaust? :D
RibbleConstruction 07-06-2007, 11:33 PM I've got 20,000 miles on my exhaust and its a striaght thru 4 inch from the turbo to the six inch tip that exits right in fron of the rear wheel. And no problems here.
malibu795 07-06-2007, 11:38 PM i got 32,000 straight piped
the only bad thing i can see is quicker spool up and lower egt............ if that is a bad thing:rolleyes:
Bolyard 07-06-2007, 11:43 PM Technically everything thats on your truck when you buy it has to remain on it or be replaced by an aftermarket part that does the same thing. So yes removal of the cat will void your warrenty. A lot of dealers dont really care about the cat or if you change the tires a couple of sizes. I installed a 5" exhausr with no kitty and jumped tire size up to 285/75-16 in about two weeks after I bought my truck. Ive got a pretty good dealer about that though.
got-h2o 07-06-2007, 11:53 PM Yeah, and as far as back pressure is concerned, you are right. The turbo is why backpressure is NOT necessary. You could in essence, run the turbo outlet wide open, and not see negative effects (aside from flames shooting out:D ).
waiting on my 07 07-06-2007, 11:54 PM taking the cat off is terrible! not only does your mpg improve but your egt's go down! and the improved throttle response just plain sucks. :p:

On the voiding warrenty issue, it depends on the way your dealer is.
On the backpressure issue, you'd have pleanty. I have a 5" straight pipe (no muffler or anything) and i dont have any issues with backpressure.
On the 6" tip issue, PRETTY SWEET:evillol:
LTChip 07-07-2007, 12:45 AM You should be fine with warranty. Officially, the dealer would have to claim that whatever failure you end up claiming against the warranty, was due to the modification you made. I cannot think of a claim that would be caused by removing the cat or putting on a 4" system.
As far as performance - you'll get better performance. Some claim loss of low end but this makes no sense except to those who swear it happened to them.
wealthywitetrash 07-07-2007, 01:12 AM get rid of that cat and get some nice 4in exhaust straight pipe, got mine running through 6in stacks, my dealer doesnt care at all.
rolloffhill 07-08-2007, 11:04 AM 1. what is the point of going to a dealer to ask about a non-existant truck?
2. yes
got-h2o 07-08-2007, 11:16 AM I was thinking the same thing:cool:
HDchevy 07-08-2007, 11:36 AM On my 2007 classic I have turbo back 4" (no cat no muffler) and a 6" tip. Sounds great and runs awesome, no problems here!:driver:

wanaDmax 07-10-2007, 10:35 PM Well, I am very sorry mister Hill.
Please accept my heartfelt apologies for not using correct English to the fullest extent.
But, please don't be mad that my school ranks higher than yours or your children's does.
Sincerely,

There should be a comma in between F and it's ** you need an apostrophe **, otherwise, it is a run on and a clash of ideas..
Also, you need a comma after you're. But most of all, you made a foolish mistake... You forgot a space after ... Also, you forgot to capitalize Y on you.
Maybe you should go back.
The sentence should read: Speaking of F, it's you're, not your... You fail;)
rolloffhill 07-10-2007, 10:45 PM Hey it's like summer school in here...):h:D
wanaDmax 07-10-2007, 10:47 PM Congratulations. You used an apostrophe..
Now moves us onto German sentence construction.
Congratulations. You have an Apostrophe used.
