Here is an interesting one to ponder over. When I push the one of the buttons in the overhead console(doesn't matter which button) to turn on the overhead light(s) the light doesn't illuminate but the cargo light indicator on the dash comes on.(Cargo light will not come on) If I push the button on the dash for the cargo light, the cargo light indicator on the dash comes on but no cargo light. When I open the door the lights in the overhead console come on and shut off when the door closes like normal. I looked in the fuse panel and I had a melted fuse so I replaced it, nothing changed. I pulled down the driver side a-pillar and found a few wires that were nicked and touching each other. I pulled them apart and respliced them(I am an electrician) and the problem still remains. So is it possible than when the wires got pinched they could have taken out part of the body controller? I am at a loss since the console lights will light when the door opens just not when "switched" on. Any ideas?

with the door open and all interior lights on, if I push the override button it will shut them all off as it should. Doesn't change anything with the doors closed.

were the wires you repaired for the fuse that was melted?

fuse was interior lighting(don't remember exact label)..............wires were in the loom behind the a-pillar. I am assuming for the overhead console, cargo light, 3rd brake light. Come to think of it I don't know if third brakelight works.
