The dual disc is pretty loud. The single seems to be a little better, but I have not heard one in a while. It will get you some weird looks at the gas stationhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley3.gif. You can use a high idle kit set at about 850 to 900 and get it to smooth out.

I have the dual is about the same as the singel, the noise sound worse on the duramax because of the quiet motor but you get use to it. steve is right the idle thing smooths it out alot

We just installed one on Deadeyes truck on Saturday and it has a good amount of rattle but only when your sitting with the clutch out, in neutral.

I think over all with the performance that the double disk adds, it's by far worth the extra noise. It really puts the power to the ground. can't even keep traction with big 35" tires on dry road from a roll. As soon as the boost kicks in say bye bye traction!!Edited by: IBDMAX'IN

I'll second that about the noise, it's not that bad, you get used to it. And it only happens in neutral idling. I have noticed at low rpm's turning a corner like say in 4th it rattles a lot more than before, but that's common in any stick truck I have driven.

I would recommend it if you have the ZF/6 w/ a box. If not, plan on buying DMF's like you would buy filters (and injectors :-)...

rattle noises heard from the 6 speed is gear to gear contact when they are in a non working state caused by engine fire pulses

Thanks for all your replies.I ordered Craigs flywheel/clutch combo today.By what everybody says it,s the sacrifice you have to make in order to hold the massive amounts of torque the Duramax makes with power upgrades.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley32.gif

westcoaster,

Good choice, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Did you order the single or dual disc setup? I have the single myself...

Tim.....I ordered the single as I don't tow anything.Craig figures thats all I need and if things change I could upgrade to the dual by just replacing the single for the dual disc as both setups use the same flywheel and pressure plate.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif

I have had Craigs Dual Disc Puller Kit in for several weeks now. Boy is it stout !!!

The rattle with the clutch engaged and the shifter in neutral is pretty noticable (unless the radio is up ). The more noticable noise is the squeak/chirp when the truck is launched in 1st, 2nd (or any) gear. If facing down hill or rollin slightly I can take off slowly with no chirp. If up hill or flat or loaded bead, I will get a chirp to squeal depending on how well and quickly I engage the clutch with the proper rpms. It has been a challenging task to get good at this even though I have been drivin shifters for many years. The discs for my kit have a lot of metal in the clutch material and that is what is causing the squealin. Just something to learn and accept. But I am much happier with the overall performance.

There is a learning curve with the DD. It may be getting easier this month though;) .

If I remember it was the middle of August. I'm putting softer disc in to help smooth it out some with the trailer. I'll report when I get them in.
