Did anybody see a Motor Week report a while ago that praised the performance of the G80 locking differential and showed a 2WD truck following a 4WD through a obstacle course and wet launch ramp test. The jist of the whole thing led you to believe that performance was up to 4WD standards  ??? Anyone have real world experience with the G80 rear on 2WD compared to 4WD and care to comment? Thanks

My G80 works perfect offroad. But it is definitely no 4x4. A stock HD 4x4 can go through more mud than mine 4x2 with 315's.

Of course that was a lighter 1500 in the motorweek report, these trucks are much heavier and would make the 4X4 much more needed.
The 1500 2WD would outperform the 2500 DMax because of the weight advantage.
I would think................

It's a biased test but there is a good video of a 2wd silverado pulling a 4wd f150 backwards spinning all four wheels. I've seen chevrolet demo trucks up a ramp, the right side is rollers , and it goes up no problem, when they try it with the ford and dodge, neither makes it a foot up the ramp. Any it's a funny video on youtube .com "SILVERADO VS A FORD F150"

That is what they were showing on the Motorweek thing also.
It is good in all the test they were doing, and it showed in comparision what it would be like without the Locker, but in the real MUD I would think a 1500 would fair better than a 2500 HD with the heavy DMax in the front without the front wheels turning.
Again, just my opinion..........................
