I have a question. Can you use EFI to read and save a programer tune that is installed in the truck? Can that be used to compare other tunes? I have downloaded and am playing with EFI software, trying to learn about it. I don't have the tool, yet!

The short answer is yes.

However, most if not all hand held tuners have copywrite protected their data. So passing this info around or loading it in other vehicles is technically against the law.

Yup, we have beat this topic into the ground many of times... Keep the tunes to yourself if you read them with EFI... It is interesting to see what has been changed and it has helped me some.

Cool, that was my idea. I have no desire to copy and give away, but it seems that it would be a good start to see what works and how things work on my truck.

I was suprised to see how few tables were changed in a certain high hp tuner

thats usually what separates the good smooth running high hp tunes from the lower end tunes. The better tunes have more done to them.
