I better start going thru my 2002 stuff to get this project going.

Truck/Tractor... what's the difference?
thejdman04 07-03-2007, 08:37 PM Thats great mialge for that weight. esp if you let it idle for loading unlaodign. That cummins engine is a great great great motor, jsut not a fan of the rest of the stuff around it. Drivetrains great, but the rest of the truck

Good point. The truck I left idle when loading and unloading. I have always done that when working equipment hard. I think it helps keep fluids more stable temp wise, and prevents heat soak and other nasty things from occurring.
_nar_ 07-04-2007, 01:33 AM Did you know your truck is blocking the view of the tractor in that picture? :nono:
Dana in Montana 07-04-2007, 09:12 AM I worked for Cummins for 36 years. When i retired i was lead technician over maintenance crew at the research facility where the CTD was tested and developed. Our group took care of all the test cells including the COLD START cells (-40F) and the emissions labs.
These are TOUGH engines and can make some unreal H.P. and torque when that's what you want to do........if i told you some of the numbers i've seen in the test cells you'd laugh at me.
Possibly, the weak link is the Bosch pump......it was just being introduced when i left. Most of the mechanics --and a lot of the engineers-- were not happy with it.Maybe it's better now........
rambling mode OFF.......
Happy Independence Day!

I should get a pic of the new one Harold bought. Brand spanking new 7120 or something.
All the toys including sunroof, joystick etc etc. It has as many bells and whistles as a loaded Duramax!

I have seen some pretty wild 800+ numbers from them myself.

31,400 is not too bad is it:o: Heck my Duramax saw that and more! Now we will get accurate tow data on both rigs, just give me some time.
I do tend to break stuff.... honestly don't know why.
Dana in Montana 07-04-2007, 12:02 PM Notice the Cummins guy drives a Dmax?
Well,I've always been a Chevy man......had a couple Fords years ago,had a couple
'off-brand" cars ('62 Triumph Spitfire,e.g.) I just never could develop a fondness for Dodge trucks...........and Chrysler Corp. would only give Cummins employees a $500 "discount" on a Dodge truck with CTD in it....so i didn't see any compelling reason to switch to Dodge/Cummins.........and back then the Cummins was so da*n LOUD you needed hearing protection to drive one...
Did you know Cummins made SMALL V-8's and V-6's back in the early 60's????? been a long time ago but i'm guessing displacement in the neighborhood of 500 c.i. (8 cyl.) and 300 c.i. (6 cyl.) range....
Railer24 07-04-2007, 12:08 PM juice, where are you located. It takes a strong man to have to put up with looking at that kind of scenery each + every day.

depends on the state, in SC the manuf. GCWR is not a legal number. my truck is registered at 25,000........as long as you have the axles to hold it and the checkbook to pay for the registration.
