This may sound totally superflous... but is there a good way to get that little turbine compressor to really scream? I'm not concerned with making more than 10 or 12 pounds boost, but I would like to hear it once in a while. It does work, I can hear it faintly, occasionally. I have heard and read that cone filters do a good job at increasing the decibel level. However, for some reason I am not comfortable shelling that kind of money on a "filter". Exhaust is another subject altogther. Would boost fooling to say 12 psi max do the trick? These 6.5's are missing the turbo sound part of the turbo diesel namesake...

3" pipe will bring out the whistle if it's a short and straight run.

Replace cat and muffler with a hunk of 3" exhaust pipe. Do the air box mods on Kennedy's page. Sure made mine whistle.
Now this weekend I got a Flowmaster downpipe to install. Should whistle even more.

You need to do what everyone above has already recommended. If you're really desperate, and I only recommend this during late Fall, Winter and early Spring because of significantly cooler engine compartment temps, crack open your air box by simply unlatching the clamps. FWIW, I removed the "silencer".

I run with no lid on the air box as well as the silencer removed and it whistles well.

So how do i convince my parents that turbo whine is cool? lol
My turbo master is cranked down so far I don't think my wastegate ever opens, but my turbo sings loud and beautiful.

3" pipes really helped my turbo sound, but it also made my truck sound like a gasser, oh well gonna get a Dmax eventually

Sell them on fuel economy; less restriction is better fuel economy, at $2+/gal should not be a hard sell, but turbo whine is adddictive http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley36.gif, more power usually means you tend to drive it a little harder and negate fuel savings.
