Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum but so please excuse me if I repeat a question that was recently asked, but about a 3 weeks ago I orderd a Preditor Power Module for my O2 duramax and although it made good power it seemed to have really bad "power spikes" in it. The acceleration wasn't smooth at all, and I didn't like the idea of random horsepower fluxuations in my powertrain http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif . I was just wondering if anyone else has tried this product, I sent mine back and am now considering a hypertech because I can't afford a Banks Stinger Kit. Any info would be great. Thanks!

J-HEFF,

The predator power module is a fuel pressure rail increase product only, it works but only deals with raising fuel pressure. We sell Edge, van Aaken, Predator Programmers (not to be confused with what you all ready tried,) Super Chips etc. These products change rail pressure, pulse width and duration of the trucks injection system, some of them control the transmission to keep it from slipping and going into limp mode etc etc.

I strongly reccomend you look at these products for your D-max, they are proven and work, some folks like one over the other. We sell all of them everyday and certain customers have their favorites but any of them will get you what you're after. Give us a call and we will be glad to help you get answers which one is best for what you do with your truck.

Thanks Mark,
I'm thinking about the Hypertech instead. I did like the fact the predator module didn't create any smoke, haha, I know some people love it but i'm not sure how good it is for the motor, I would think thats just extra fuel being added which means hotter combustion and scored cylinder walls, haha. I'm no mechanic though so I guess I have no room to talk, but anyway, the hypertech seems to be a good choice for what i'm looking for, I'm not a racer, I use my truck primarily for working on the farm and ranch. Thanks again for your insights.

Hahah, your right! I have to breath it all summer, it's kinda nice to be in a clean runnin' rig! Maybe it'll make me live a little longer in the long run. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif By the way Dmax Tim, you like those 285 BFG's your running? We have a hell of a time getting more than 15000 miles outa our tires. Haven't tried the BFG's though, heard good things! Thanks,

J-Heff, give us a call and we can talk about the hypertech. We carry them in stock and have had good responses from dmax owners that run it. John HamlinEdited by: tulsa1718

John,
I will give ya a call here sometime,I think the hypertech is more directed for my uses. I'm not looking to go drag racing, my truck is primarly used for working and towing, I'd just like to have something that doesn't sky rocket my EGT's, but makes good horsepower and gives me better fuel economy. I'm getting 18 right now on the highway, so if the hyper tech adds a few to that I'd be VERY happy, fuel is almost a 2.60 where I live. Anyway, thanks again for your response.

The Hypertech is quite weak. The Predator Programmer, ver 1.11 for LB7, is quite strong, but exhaust upgrade (like your straight pipe) is required to combat brisk egt's, and self control is required to prevent limping of trans. I have run both, and now have the Pred tune stacked with a Banks six-gun.

Mark,

I am confused. Is the Predator programmer by Diablosport a fuel pressure increaser???

I thought Predator adjusted the width of the pulse. Are there two Predator boxes out there???

Can you clarify???

By the way I have tested the Hypertech and the latest Predator and the Predator is much smoother than the Hypertech and smokes a lot less plus it has real time diagnostic capability. I am more than happy at the 40HP towing setting, better running and smoother idle.

Thanks,

marco polo,

"I am confused. Is the Predator programmer by Diablosport a fuel pressure increaser??? "

NOOOOO the Predator Programmer is pressure pulse width etc etc. There is another product out there called Predator that plugs into the pressure sensor and ONLY does pressure.

We have seen the same results you have on the Predator Programmers as well. As an aside they just released their LLY programmer, we should have them late this week.
