I used the predator to check for codes. What is the NOT RAN deal? I had one code and erased it but when I check the NOT RAN option It came up with 24 different codes. P0112 intake air temp circuit low input, P0181 fuel temp sensor A circuit range/performance, P0182 fuel temp sensor A low input, P0300 random multiple misfire, P0301-p0308 misfire cyl 1-8, P0540 unknown, P0543 unknown, P1172 unknown, p1637 generator L terminal circuit, P2066,P2067,P2068, P2227, Nd099, all unknown. Auto is no help, doesn't have anything on the unknowns. The truck seems to be running fine except for a shifting issue ( topic in tranny section). I only checked for codes because of that. The one code it had was for a oiil pressure sensor that has gone bad and is disconected. All of this was after driving it a while. The predator will show 49 codes in the not ran if you start from just getting in the truck without driving it. I'm not sure if any of this has anything to do with the tranny but I'd still like to know what the deal is.

I have alway ignored the codes in the Not Ran section. Hopefully someone will chime in.

Not ran is codes which have not run a diagnostic cycle the last ignition cycle or since codes were cleared last.

Eric,
Does this mean "Not Ran Codes" are codes that appeared previously but have not been repeated in subsequent ignition cycles? Are they anything to be concerned about?

Not Ran Codes are diagnostic routines that have not been run once since the last time all the fault codes have been reset.
Example, - The OBDII diagnostics not only check how well the engine is running, they also check the operation of the actual sensors over their operating ranges. So if the full operating range of the sensor has not been check since the last time all the fault codes had been reset, they will appear in the Not Ran Codes list. Look at this list immediately after you have reset (cleared) all fault codes. It is extremely long. Over time it approaches zero. The example I used in a previous post was the fuel gauge sensor. If the tank has not been completely filled or run down, I have noticed this Not Ran Code appears on my predator and usually takes a while too disappear (for me the low range code, since I usually fill-up at half tank).
So Bill, which performance tune do you have loaded into your truckhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gifEdited by: OC_DMAX

Thanks for the explanation of the Not Ran codes! As for tunes I’m just running stock. I bought the predator mainly for monitoring the balance rates… http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
