Has anyone had any experience with compustar brand remote starter? They claim 1.25 mile range. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

I install compustar alarms and remote starts. The SS model with 1.25
mile range is nice, but the remote is huge and breaks easier than the
others. The FM models have 1/4 mile range and the same features.
I've installed several of those with no problems. Their newest one,
the FM900 has 3/4 mile range, and is their nicest model to date
IMO. The most important factor is the installer...

It's kinda scary to have that kind of range on a remote start unit. I had a avantguard 4 in my jeep and was always worrying about whether I had pressed buttons on it while I was away from the Jeep. My buddy had one too and came out to find his jeep running one time. Just my $0.02

Blue Ox03,

Is there much cutting and splicing of the factory wires with the newer kits?

You have to splice every wire you hook up. The only wire you have to cut is the starter wire if you want a starter kill. I wouldn't worry about cutting in splicing if you find a good installer.

Like you Max Power!!! I am thinking about coming up sometime for you to install. I have to convince the wife though.

Anybody heard of Autopage? I just got a Autopage remote start and alarm. The model # is RS-855LCD, its a cool looking unit, i'm just scared to get it installed. I've heard alot of stories about a local installer that after going there 3-4 months down the road the vehicles were broken into and yer stuff is gone. More than two people have told me this.
Are alarms and remote starts pretty similiar? Or do i have to find someone that installs Autopage? Thanks

It says to get it installed professionally. I'm kinda anal about my truck. Any and all feedback would be appreciated.

I have the basic compustar remote start only. I see on the back it has a turbo timer feature. does it need an additional relay or just for my installer to program it?

I took mine back for the turbo timer & was told that it only needed to be programed.

You can program it yourself, I'll dig out the directions and type it up when I get a chance, I just use the Option Programer. It will only work if the park break is tapped.

Does anyone know what a fair price would be for an Astrostart 2205 or 4205(?) installed on a gasser? I have gotten 525.00 and 600.00 respectively. I am not a gouger but I don't want to be taken either..Thanks

We would charge about $450 CANADIAN to install it on a gasser. Add about $75 to turn on the heated seats. The 4204 would be about another $75 on top of that.

The canadian dollar is worth about 80c USD. So every $100 canadian will cost you about $80 USD.

JRKRACE,

Why don't you do the install yourself. . It's pretty easy and a lot of fun. I learned a lot about the truck when I did mine. ..

Hmmm.....Looks like I might have to break out the meters and soldering irons....All I will have to do is ask Max Power for a price on the 4204 and needed accessories and an idea of what is needed to put this in..(hint hint..hope Max Power is listening...)

I just did it, you will have no problem with this as long as you can solder a wire. Everything is spelled out in the instructions pretty clearly. I had a few questions before I did it, and Max Power went out of his way to make sure I was good to go. All told, it took me about three hours, and I always take my time and seems to take more time than the average guy. As long as you read everything before you start, and ask questions before you do the install, I think you will find it a piece of cake.

I installed my astrostart from max power about 4 weeks ago. I got model 2205. I can start my truck from 2284 ft. (just under 1/2 mile). I used a measuring wheel to check. Very pleased with the range in open area. Went hunting and tried starting truck from deer stand which is about 300 - 400 yards from truck, all wooded and the truck started VERY PLEASED. Out performs other remote starters I had in the past. I highly reccommend the astrostart.

Thanks MAX POWER

Hey folk's.

What unit would you suggest for my 04.5 Dmax that turns on the heated seats?

BlueOx03

If you have te electronic climate control, it can be done via Data bus with the right module...

Do you have an AM or FM unit? If you have the AM, you'll need an installer with an Option Programer to program it...If you're somewhere close to me I can do it for you. If you have the FM PM me your email and I'll send you the instructions.
