Welcome to DieselPlace.......

Hours/days/weeks/months of reading material here. Use the "Search" feature... it helps. Also, fill in your location within your user profile and when you get a Dmax, fill in your signature about your truck.

Enjoy!!!!

Chicks with a Duramax, is one major turn on to me. lol But for real I hope everyone can assist you on finding information on them. When looking for a duramax, find about the injectors, on if they were changed, and how many times. I hope you you find a D-max for you.

Best way is to try and hit up some events that are local like truck pulls and drag races and just talk to people.

Taking a look at howstuffworks.com for basic diesel and engine theory will help.

Browsing this forum will also realy help. Hit up fourms that interest you. The electronics sections(talking about chips) the fuel/air/exhaust section, the drag racing, comp results, truck pulling are a couple good sections to browse, the aftermarket allison forum is interesting, the "other performance" section here is also good. Then browsing the engine forums has some interesting stuff sometimes too.

Welcome to the site, like others have said, just take some time and sit and read. There's plenty to learn and there's guys right here that post often on this site that are Duramax Pioneers when it comes to power and parts.
Our vendors are great, and are very helpful if you have a question!
One thing you'll see at almost all sites, including at varied times here is the brand bashing, although this site is minimal with it...

there's quite a few other Californians on here including me and there's a section of regional stuff going on, check that out and you can find events you can show up too. These people carpull or meet one another and head up there in masses so it might be fun to meet up with someone and head up there and meet some people and see some trucks.

I like the heat actually and I tan and do not burn so it doesn't really affect me. Have you always been a GMC guy?

Truck wise yeah, I think the cars they make aren't very good for bigger guys (6'4") and we never have leg room. I always wanted a trans am or camaro but they just kill my knees.
I had an 05 Z71 that was a GREAT truck, but, i needed more power for trailer towing and figured I'd get the towing stability of the dually.... I'm very happy about my purchase, I tow my horse trailer to bakersifeld to the trailer mart pretty frequently for add ons and such and this thing has no problem yanking it up the hills on 46 from Paso to Lost hills.
Now i just need to tow my trailer so i can what kinda EGT's im getting...
Glad to hear about the tan thing, i do the same thing, I burn and the next day it's a tan... LOL
