: LLY w/ Edge, NEED HELP!!!!!!????s
BigWill_21 10-21-2004, 02:59 PM OK, have 9500 mi. LLY... Installed Juice/Attitude last week...
Juice only, Level 1-4 - NO KNOCKING even at less than 180* temp.
Attitude installed, Level 0-5 - KNOCKS until reaches 180*
Sounds like CLICKITY CLACK SPOONS BAND under hood at very slight throttle, will die out when more throttle is given to accelerate.
As soon as 180* is reached BOOM, totally gone..
is this TURBO BARK??? What is it.... I am worried about it!!!
THANKS
WILL
tbone1227 10-21-2004, 03:17 PM its not turbo bark, more than likely a problem with the edge unit or your truck, not too sure which one ?? it could be a bad injector(s) ??, and have you tried running stanadyne in the fuel yet ? i know theres a lot of others having similar problems with programs as well and my truck sounds like sh*t at idle and until 180 - dealer said i have 2 bad injectors and a bad egr - all on national back order http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif
BigWill_21 10-21-2004, 04:09 PM Well it didnt do it with the JUICE ONLY....
It only does it when below 180* and when the Attitude is being used..
Juice only its like stock as far as Warm up and running besides the power...
EGR maybe????? I had it unplugged could it be sticking open until it reaches 180*
Can you unplug the battery for 15 minutes and reset everythign like the old GMC TBI TRUCKS???
Thanks
tbone1227 10-21-2004, 04:16 PM hmmm, not sure about the battery - i might have to try that as well... the tech 2 showed that my egr was not opening and closing properly and as commaned by the pcm
BigWill_21 10-21-2004, 05:28 PM I can get my hand on a Snap-on code reader, will that read any problems???? Should I unplug the Juice???
BIG
tbone1227 10-21-2004, 05:42 PM not sure about the snap on scanner, Mike L would know if it can read the EGR, you may want to PM him... if the truck is only making that noise with the edge/attitude then i would assume it has to be something with the unit or again, with the injectors being out of balance or the egr possibly as the edge will promote more fuel through the injectors, if theyre bad, it could be causing more noise during warm up ?? are you running any other tuner stacked as well ??
XR-Freak 10-21-2004, 05:54 PM Have your truck updated at the dealership. Don't forget to unpulg before you go. Just tell them you want the latest and greatest update
tbone1227 10-21-2004, 05:59 PM the one thing about the update is that it wont necesarily fix all problems - i took mine in for the update after it started acting up, they reflashed it and it was worse than before, i took it back and they found 2 bad injectors and said the egr was bad as well - all have to be replaced now
onesmokindmax04 10-21-2004, 11:25 PM Mine dose that some times too. Once the temp hits around 150sto 170s it startes studdering/knocking. I have noticed it will do it with the attitude on 0 or it will do it when its in a level. I took it to the dealer when i took my juice out becouse it was doing it with it not in there. They said it was the fuel filter. But it still dose it I didnt think that was it .
dpower 10-22-2004, 09:27 AM Lots of people have this fixed with the update.....But let me say this. I got a replacement box from edge for this complaint and the knock is much improved.....so...who knows.
SteveNorCal 10-22-2004, 04:20 PM FYI:
I was an original "beta" tester for Edge and always had this knocking/rattling between 130 to 180 degrees. Finally Aaron at Edge informed me about this reflash calibration that GM came out with on 9/10/04.
I finally got in to my local stealer and had the reflash done yesterday and now no more "fuel knock"!!! Now I'm once again juiced (had it removed because of the terrible noise). Yahoo!!! http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif
BigWill_21 10-22-2004, 04:53 PM Thats what i was hoping...
Thanks

onesmokindmax04 10-22-2004, 09:50 PM So did any of the dealers sayin anything about the edge being in there i no most people take it out but they say they can still tell something was in there what do i say if they asked .( NO whats that?)
Aron420 10-28-2004, 12:51 AM PROVE IT... Thats all i would say.http://dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley7.gif
SteveNorCal 10-28-2004, 01:47 PM Sunny4x4chick,
In my case, I removed the Edge. Then I put my code reader on to make sure I had no codes. All is well. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif

What do you do if you dont have a code reader?
dpower 10-28-2004, 09:04 PM Sunny...remove the edge no matter what. Drive the truck around and cycle the key.....on off on off ect at least three times. Fully start the truck each time....do this at least three times.....6 times to be safe and codes should be gone. This worked for me and I double checked with the bd scanner to make sure. Hope this helps...dpower.
