I test drove two 2007 2500 diesels. one was WT trim (base) and the other is LT1 (some goodies). We settled on the LT1 - however it is a tad noisier than the first one we drove. My fiancee noticed the same thing. Still quiet for a diesel, just wondering if anyone had any thoughts?

my truck changes sometime's it's louder then others last thursday it was super quiet

same with mine. I thought it was just me for a while.

The trucks could be in different stages of break-in. They get a little louder as they get some miles on them.

I have noticed the noise change on mine as well.
Maybe some EGR fluctuation or some cetane variances in fuels.....

The louder truck has an 06 motor, the quieter one has an 07 motor. maybe the new emissions are reducing noise even more? Regardless I went for the 06 motor. I'm under the impression it doesn't require ULSD and it was a prettier color :)

Mine changes sound depending on ambient temperature, engine load and other things I can't seem to account for. My bet is that you will be fine with either truck, If it were me, I would get the one with the trim and extras that you want and ignore the sound.

Don't know for sure, but I think some of the lower trim levels (like mine) have less sound deadening material. Particularly vinyl floors and headliners (or lack of).

Thanks for the info. I did go for the louder one because it had more goodies (alright, an I liked the color :)
