ok so im having an issue with my trailer wiring on my 04 2500hd chevy. everything works on the back plus except the the constant 12v. so i checked all my fuses and all were good. anyone know if theres another relay or somthing else to check for to get it to work properly.

i should say that before this i didnt have left turn or brake lights. but i had fuse [10a lt trlr st/trn] under the dash blown and under the hood i had [trl 10a] and [lr park 10a] . so i replaced those and got all the lights, blinker..etc to work. i just dont have any 12v coming from my plug.

Check the spot marked stud 1 under the hood. there should be a 40 amp square fuse there. Should be up at the front of the fuse box.

thanks for the heads up. that was the issue. there was a fake fuse in place. put a 40amp in there and got my 12v working. only bummer is that pin is broke so i have power to it, not out. ill just have to wire in a new plug.

but thanks for the advice, helped mucho:ro)

You can just buy a plug from napa or a dealer and it just plug right into the harness....no cutting required. I think they run about $35 from napa or $40 from the dealer. The one that you can get at napa (at least the one I saw) you have to mount with screws, but it is just like the f*rd's with the 4 flat on the back too.

The receptical just unplugs right behind where it mounts. Just hold onto the plastic part and pull. It is pretty tight for a connector. I just picked a receptical up from my dealer today for $43. If you get the receptical, you will see what I am talking about. Pretty easy...only takes about 30 seconds to replace.
