I have a 02 2500HD 4x4.

In the past couple weeks the needle for the tach has been sticking and seems to get stuck at various locations. Normally when I start the truck and drive everything is fine but after going a few miles, or possibly many miles, it sticks in place, so I can go faster and slow down but it stays at say 1600rpm.

I am not sure what the issue is. Possible there is dirt in the instrument panel and I need to take it apart and clean it or is there a contact issue with the electonic panel on the back.

Any ideas or suggestion are appreciated. Thanks in advance for the advise.

Are you out of your 3/36 warranty? Sounds like you need an IPC. Where in socal are you?

That happened to me when I did a white gauge face install. First 5-10 minutes would be fine, then it would stick. It turns out for me that I installed the needles in to far and the needle would ride on the gauge face. Brought the needles out alittle and everythings fine. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley4.gif That could be another possibility. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Rock On.gif

Well, now the speedo needle is sticking.

I want to try to remove the whole cluster. I believe I saw it done on "Trucks" a few weeks ago on spike network. If I remember there really isn't that much to it. Just remove the front part of the dash, then there are a few screws and an electrical plug that need to be removed. Is there anything else too it or special tools that need to be purchased?

Also, can the clear plastic cover be removed? There is alot of dirt on the instruments and I would like to clean it up.
