I just picked up a set of H2 rims for my truck (5 with caps and lugs for $200), what is the max tire size I can fit without any lift or trimming? I tried to do a search but the server crapped out. I thought it was 285/70-17 but wasn't sure. If anyone knows or has experience please let me know. And, thanks for the tip on the H2 rims, they are going to look awesome.

You should be fine with the 285/70's. These are the same height as the 285/75-16's, and I'm running them with no lift or trimming. I did crank up the torsion bars a couple turns.

I have the H2 tires (315 x 70-17) and wheels. I cranked the T bars about 1.5". I also spaced the front bumper out about 3/4" and did some minor, very minor trimming on the front air dam.
I currently have over 30k miles on the tires and think they are great. The BFG AT/KOs have excellent dry and wet traction and are wearing very well. I'm expecting to get at least 40k out of them.
My truck is a 2WD so I'm not sure how well they perform off road. I was able to pick up (4) tires w/ rims for $500. I will definately do that again after these wear out.

Maxrock, mine don't rub in front near the bumper at all, my problem is the other side (door side).. I have a body lift, and green keys with torsion bars cranked and they still have slight rubbing at times when I turn all the way.. I've heard of others without any lift not having problems... I just don't understand.... My bad luck I guess...

FYI
Be careful with the load on the H2 wheels, they are under 3,000 pounds. Do a search on this site there is plenty of info on this.

I have run the H2 wheels w/ 285/70-17 BFG AT on my last 4 03 and 04 Chevy/GMC trucks.
The trouble starts because the rims are wider and shifts the tire outboard so that is where it rubs when the 285 on stock rims don't.
The lower airdam corners will need trimmed more on GMC than Chevy,
maybe 1/2- 3/4" is all it takes.
The 03 GMC needed more trimmed than my present 04 GMC, assembly plant tolerances.
The left inner fender just needs some big zip ties to pull the front and back out of the way.
Turning the keys won't help u unless u go a lot.
The corner of the airdam is below the center of the tire so when it goes up it actually gets closer.
I've loaded the truck pretty heavy and wondered about the rims but after seeing Tomac use them on his pulling truck, I don't get anywhere near that much abuse http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif.
On a side note when wheeling the wife's H2 we've had all the weight on opposite corners climbing rocks and the 2 wheels carried the 7500# fine.

It sounds like they will fit by what you guys are telling me, thanks for the input. A little trimming never hurts a thing, at least I'll fill the wheelwells. As for the H2 rims, I don't abuse the truck much with excessive weight so I'm sure the rims will be good enough for me. Thanks again everyone.

Morse,
I had to zip tie the door side fender liner back, especially on the drivers side. In addition I had to zip tie the emergency brake cable. The driver's side is fine, however the passenger side still rubs every blue moon.
One interesting that I noticed. When I installed the tires, the drivers side air dam was over 1/2" closer to the tires than the passenger side. Tolerances I guess...
According to tirerack.com, the BFG TA/ko 317x70-17 are rated at 3195 pounds. If memory serves me correctly, I believe this is higher than the 245x75-16 that came on the truck.

You have the factory H2 Tires... the 315's and they fit without a lift...sweet??
I run mine with 33x12.50's and would like to go up to the 315's on the next set for the extra sidewall height, but need to know about the bumper spacing process. Can you tell me what you used to space it?
Oh and as far as towing goes...I have 50ft 3 car trailer 20K + loaded and never had an issue! I have no concerns with the H2 wheel holding a load!
