: 1st trip to drags
dieseljunky 06-30-2007, 09:33 PM Just wondering what to expect? I have an 03' CC SB, with a Hypertech on stage 3 (90hp), a 4" Silverline turbo back system, and an S&B intake. Just wondering what kind of times to expect, and how to run it? 2WD, or 4WD, and I see most people do boosted launches around 2000rpm. I don't think I'll get wheel spin on launch at 2000 with all the rubber on the track, but who knows?? My truck isn't really crazy fast, but just going to run it for fun. Just wondering what to expect?? Any info is appreciated.
kj01lb7 06-30-2007, 11:35 PM you can probably run in two wheel drive. if you break them loose put it in 4 on the next run but 2 should do
radvans 06-30-2007, 11:53 PM I just returned from my first trip to the stip today. You will love it.
Without the tierod sleeves I wouldn't launch in 4wd. Both of my runs were done in 2wd with no burn out. I have 315's so grip was not to much of an issue. I launched around 1300rpm. Could have launched at a higher rpm but I only got two runs and staging is a little itimidating when your new.
Once I launched can't really remember what happens till about the 1/8. I was so fixed on the tree that I didn't even think to look at the guages, still not sure of max boost or egts for the entire run. At about the 1/8 I was able to glance at the mph and get an idea of what I was running. It all happens really fast, even though compared to others I was just on a Sunday drive. On the second run I staged much better and cut .75 off my 1/4. I think after about 5 runs you will feel comfortable and really then get a chance to see what the truck will run continually.
Good luck.
I have the LLY and ran mine back when I got it with a HT on L3 and just a cat-back exhaust(had the CAI also) ! I was launching at around 1800 rpms in 2wd and the best I could get was a 10.09 in an 1/8th (with very little spin on take off)!
I haven't been back since but hopefully soon with my current set up !!
I would say you could probably hit high 9's in the eighth and probably a low 15 in the qtr with a good launch !!
dieseljunky 07-01-2007, 08:46 PM Well, just got back from the strip. 1st run was a disaster! Ran in 2WD, had way to much wheel spin and ran a 17.92. UGH! next time, ran in 4WD, launched around 1800, and ran a 15.16. Much better IMO. Ran 1st round elimination same way and actually had the opponent beat, so I lifted at the end so as not to break out (ran15.36)! On to the 2nd round and ran against a 280ZX with a 350 Chevy engine. he dialed 14.13, I was at 15.20. I was so ready on the tree, and we both went red! UGH!!! I ran a faster ET though @14.92. I'm sure if I could get better traction in 2wd it would be much better than 14's, but not too shabby for an 8,000lb truck! Thanks to the others who posted their experience!

sandracer799 07-02-2007, 04:38 PM I don't think both vehicles can relight?
Where I race both vehicles can redlight BUT it is the first to red light that will lose, not the worst.
ratlover 07-02-2007, 04:42 PM First guy to redlight loses, yes both can redlight.
You will lose the jitters. It is very nerve racking at first.
Did you read the sticky at the top of this page/ I found staging the way I do makes me much more relaxed and I dont feel so rushed :)
dieseljunky 07-02-2007, 09:16 PM Yes, I read your post on the staging. I tried to do it that way as well to be courteous. I wasn't cutting very good lights, so I was really trying to concentrate on the good R/T. Guess it was a little too good. LOL I'm going to go back maybe this weekend on Sat. and do a little test and tune and see what happens. Went out in the 2nd round, but still had fun! Thanks to all that posted, and we'll see what happens next weekend.
Well, maybe heading back to the strip this Sunday. Got rid of the Hypertech, now running Edge Juice with an attitude monitor. Going to get the Hot unlock for the level 6, stacked with a 215hp Quadzilla I bought as well. It should be interesting to see what kind of ET's I get with this set-up. Will report back if I do get there this weekend.
02freighttrain 07-27-2007, 12:47 AM Yes , I guess both can redlight, I just have never seen both bulbs red on the bottom of the tree/ I'm old school. Thanks for pointing out my error.
