: Just looking for good gains!!
CHOPJAW 10-21-2004, 12:54 AM I am new to Diesel's. Just bought my first one last week. I plan on towing a Toy-Hauler for my KTM's and Quads. My buddy keep telling me to get the Bank's and his brother is saying to get the BullyDog. SO I have done many searches on this forum and have read until my eye's bled. SO FAR I have not found one person to give the real deal about any of this stuff. I dont want to drag Race my truck, I do want my tires to smoke if necessary. I plan on towing but mostly driving everyday to work and back. I am looking for the best possible HP gain without having to replace my Trany in a month. My first thing is to get the K&N FIPK air filter system on this week. Then I want to put an exhaust on. Who should I use ?? Then I want to get a programmer. Hypertech, BullyDOg, Banks, etc.;.... Money is not an issue. I want dependable power without me having to alter my driving style. Can any of you offer the straight scoop???? I need your help.
Thanks for everything.
P.

Got Juice? 10-21-2004, 01:32 AM The bullydog programmer does not protect the trans.
My 1st choice as a good all-rounder would be EDGE Juice and Attitude (maybe hot) and as a bonus... Gauges!
Nobody makes a bad product, all have their inherent strengths and weaknesses.
TTS AKA Steve 'stoopid power' Cole can hook you up anywhere from mild to wild and anywhere inbetween
Then Probably Banks/Diablosport/Bullydog/BD-Power
Others will chime in here i am sure.

Yea but what year or if 04 is it an LLY?

Must be nice, my friend. BTW, welcome to the forum. As far a constructive input, I can only offer that I had a Hypertech and didn't like the power curve on it (on lvl2 70HP). It was a little jerky and only really came alive above 2000-2200RPM. I'd like something that will give me a little better throttle response below 2000RPM. I'm planning on keeping the stock alli, so whatever I get won't be over 75HP.
I sold the Hypertech and ,right now, I'm savin' up for something else. Like most everyone else who's doing so, I'm wavering between Banks, Edge, Diablo, etc. This time I'm gonna get a 4" exhaust first, though. (Since whatever I get will be "hotter" than the ol' Hypertech.)

Jeez I'm just blowing it.... 2002
Thanks.
killerbee 10-21-2004, 11:24 AM The LB7 juice/attitude is highly refined, very well tested.
Scotty Seelen 10-21-2004, 11:29 AM Best possible horsepower gain without needing your tranny replaced-Banks 6-gun w/speedloader......
Hypertech level 3 = 96hp no tranny mods needed
Bullydog level 3   ; = 95hp no tranny mods needed. The 155hp tune will limp your tranny
Edge w/attitude &n bsp; = 125hp will limp the tranny if you don't defuel on the 4-5 shift. Hot Juice will limp your tranny.
6-Gun w/speedloader = 155hp no tranny mods needed.
The above is just my opinion. When asking which is best, you'll end up getting five or six different answers everytime. This is mine.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
ratlover 10-21-2004, 11:50 AM hp is hp in regards to the ally slipping, actually torque is what cooks an ally. Banks marketing or 155 hp is not apples to apples with the juice or most other co.s if it is then why does a 125 juice out run a 155hp banks? JMO but banks marketing reminds me of the tree hugging hippy libral media, missinformation, streaching the truth, ect. I'm sure everyone in banks marketing is voting for Kerry.....ok that may be a bit lowhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif All I know is "race program" and "stock allison" allison should be no were near the same sentence.
anything over 100ish hp is going to hurt a stock trans long term.
JMO if money is no object. Buy a juice attitude now and later upgrade the trans and then bump the juice up to a hot juice(150ish gain) and you will have a very nice drivable. It will be a running MF.
option 2 if $ is no option and instead of a bad MFing truck you want to approach "stoopid" level. Get a TTS tune, later upgrade the trans and get Steve to upgrade you to an extreme.
Hot juice=bad mofo TTS=nucking futty
If you dont want to upgrade the trans, juice in a regular attitude version(125 hp) left on level 4(90hp) instead of 5(125hp) is a great bang for the buck. Trany protection and some other nifty things. Banks has the protection stuff to as does the VA. Nobody really makes bad stuff, some just have other nicer features or plusses and minuses that make it right for you.
Not hijacking the thread, just interesting how there is no mention of VA http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley25.gif. I'm not commenting because I too have not selected a performance enhancement product.
Scotty Seelen 10-21-2004, 12:12 PM ratlover,
Just out of curiousity, and not starting a war issue, have you personally run a 125hp Juice against a 155hp 6-Gun? Banks did their own testing, and beat it by a 1/2 second in the 1/4 mile on level 6. This was with the Edge on low boost fueling set to 5 and the de-fuel on the 4-5 shift. I ran against the 125hp Juice and took it by a fender length up to the 97mph limiter-three times-on level 5 (124hp). I believe the reason that Banks is fail-safe on the tranny issue is the heavy de-fueling it does on the top two levels. We'll see how the Bullydog, Edge and Banks fair this weekend. This is one of the reasons I'm doing this-that and it's a hell of a good time.http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/hihi.gif
CHOPJAW 10-21-2004, 12:13 PM So which exhaust. 4" or 5". I dont understand about half of what you are saying. I do understand that I have allot of homework......http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif
Scotty Seelen 10-21-2004, 12:36 PM The 5" is only for the cool look. There are no benefits over a 4" exhaust.
ratlover 10-21-2004, 01:44 PM never did back to back testing.....I thought I remember banks testing running dead even. I guess i am mistakenhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley9.gif. If you are reporing that you saw a 1/2 fender at 97 mph then that aint no .5 in the 1/4 BTW. I still stand by my comment that banks has one hell of a advertising dept.
Dont care how much defuling you put in there if you run 150 over stock peak(400ish rwhp) then you will limp the trans.
Will be a hell of a good time I'm sure. Not trying to start anythinghttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley1.gif
Inbound PMhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif
Scotty Seelen 10-21-2004, 02:06 PM Banks tested the 6-gun on level 6 and ran a 15.42 against the Edge w/attitude running a 15.9? - that's the 1/2 second I was referring to. I believe this truck ran about a 17.9 stock. I ran mine on level 5 - fender length.
ratlover 10-21-2004, 02:09 PM Why dont you run with it set to kill?
Scotty Seelen 10-21-2004, 03:22 PM I wanted to match the advertised horsepower claims for Banks and Edge.
