Two questions: For my use, I'm not sure the 3 1/2" stock exhaust wouldn't be sufficient if the CAT were gone. I'm assuming most of the restriction on the LLY is from the CAT and not the exhaust or muffler. Didn't the LB7's only have a 3" stock, and that justified the upgrade to 4" ?
Doe anyone make a CAT replacement pipe with the 4 bolt flange on one end, the appropriate bend, and a slip over clampable sleeve on the exit end? I'd like to be able to reinstall the CAT later if I ever need to for emissions, or to sell the truck.
I will be adding an Edge, or similar, - if they ever get the bugs fixed. I'm not interested in 1/4 mile runs, just good solid dependable performance and towing capability without heat problems.

There are several different versions of aftermarket replacement pipes that get rid of the Cat. Try MBRP's. I run with it, and I love it. Fairly inexpensive as well. It goes from the v-clamp off the downpipe back to the fourbolt flange. A little tricky getting the Cat off, but can be done.

The MBRP front pipe is exactly what you are looking for. Slips right in, well maybe not that easy. You will have to remove the front hanger in order to slide out the stock front pipe with the CAT. Fairly easy to switch out whenever you need to.

The LB7's have a 3.5" factory system. The 4" upgrade doesn't sound like it's much, but believe me when I tell you it is. The CAT is a bigger problem than the muffler or 3.5" system. Banks makes a CAT replacement pipe with the 4-bolt flange and v-clamp end that your looking for. It's also 4" but bolt's right up to the 3.5" with no mods necessary.

okauto,
MBRP's front pipe will do what you are asking, it will improve the truicks ability to breath, but you are adding a 4 inch section approx 50 inches long that connects to a 3.5 inch system, that is a pretty good restriction in itself. Now is it better than stock yes, but you're still playing pass the potatoe anyway you look at it. I have cut open a lot of stock and competitive performance mufflers over time, the stock GM,Ford, Dodge diesel muffler is horrible, no other word describes it. The cat and muffler are at least equal in restriction so keep that in mind too when your deciding what to do. Let us know if we can help you on any questions you might have.

What great advice. After spending that much for a truck, there's no point in going half way now as I typically keep a vehicle forever and I want it as good as it can be. I just ordered a complete MBRP 409 Stainless system - front back to SS tip - from Mark at Diesel Performance Parts. I should have it installed before I leave for the SEMA show next Saturday. If they ever get the performance boxes bug free, that will be next.

performance boxes bug free....That would be nice. I just traded in my Juice for a hypertech.

Where can the banks front pipe be gotten? I want to replace my cat with
one when I tow... I want to keep the EGT's as low as possible while
pulling 13-14k.
On a side note, anyone know if a dealer would install boost and EGT probes for me to avoid warranty issues?
