I run 285 tires with the torsion bars cranked about 9 turns. I would like to give sled pulling a try ,but dont think I can lower the t-bars much at all for clearance. I plan on running the tierod sleeves. Anyone else run into this situation?

you wont have any trouble lowering them with 285's, thats whats on my 02 d-max. if ur gonna pull, i recomend u just take that 1/2" bolt clear out, thats what i do. tires havent rubbed yet. good luck!

You can drop all the way down on 285's but you will rub when turning sharp while backing up. This is what we have on Blue, and daily drive it with the Tbars dropped.

you have a chevy which is a bonus. on gmc's it's a pain trust me. i have 265's on 8in. wheels with my bars dropped all the way and i have massive rubbage. i had my truck aligned that way so i don't have to mess with it the rest of the season.

I back the bolt completely out with 33's, works fine just cant turn really sharp......remember your not driving around town you just have to go straight down the track and back to the pits:D

I run 285's on my 04lly and I can drop my t-bars all the way down. Trust me, it pulls so much better with dropped. I have tried different settings the past 2 seasons and all the way down is the best.

Ditto...

I have had mine out the last two days. Only rubs when near lock on the turning. I did do some triming with a cutoff wheel when I originally put the 285's on about 4 years a go. I also raised it about 1/2" at that time.

Lower them and be careful when hooking to the sled. I have 285s and Importkilla has 305s and we lower them all the way and then hang weight with no problems.

Nice 250r by the way. Best hill shooter made! I have an 86 with an FTZ 400 monster motor in it.

The problem is not the tire size, it's the backspacing of the rims you're using. Wonder why most pullers run 17" H2 rims? It's the excellent backspacing. You MUST keep the tire as far inside the well as you can.

We run true 35.1" tires. Yes, they rub like hell. Yes, I have to saw back and forth. But they're worth the effort.

You've got the new bumper and that's your major hurdle. Move it forward as far as you can, or take it off altogether. Then you should have zero issues. Lots of people run 33's.

Us old skoolers have it much better with the old bumper with less wraparound.

I run 315's on H2's and back my bars way down. They rub when I come on the track.
