Has anybody hauled 4 dirt bikes in the back of their truck with the tail gate closed? I have a crew cab dually and 4 dirt bikes, two KX125's, one KX500 and a CRF150. I am pulling a trailer too so I need the tail gate closed. Three bike's are no problem but I haven’t loaded all 4 yet, seems like it will be tight. I have seen it done (passing on the freeway) but I couldn't get a good look at how it was loaded so you don't trash the bikes. I am also looking at this bar that will hold the front wheels and provide tie down points for 3 bikes facing forward, http://ccrsport.com/the_bed_buddy.html (http://ccrsport.com/the_bed_buddy.html) then put one bike in backwards, facing the tailgate. Any ideas??? When I figure it out I'll post a picture.

I put 4 bikes in the back of my 8' bed. Two facing the front, Two facing the back, and still had room for gear. I never used something like in your post, but I only have dirt bikes.

Thanks for the reply, I think I'll try the 2 forward/2 rear. I havn't bought the wheel holder yet because I was still trying to figure the whole thing out.

Any buddies with a trailer you could use?
I have put 3 full size dirtbikes in back, but always ended up scratching the bikes decals/plastic in the meanwhile. Talk about a pain in the rear trying to fasten the bikes also.
I guess everyones situation is different. I cant' imagine 4 bikes, gear, gas cans, and stands in the back of a truck.
Anything is possible if you put your mind to it I guess.
Have fun man! :)

The trailer I have is not a Toy hauler, that’s why I need to put the bikes in the truck. The Crew Cab helps for space, I even have an old Yakima rack and Thule roof top case I could use. I haven’t tried that yet because it seemed ridiculous to have a 22 foot truck and still need to have a roof rack! You mentioned scratching the decals, did that last week with three bikes, I'm sure 4 will be worse. I'll look at canvas or something in between the bikes. Like I said I'll take a picture when I get it all together.

Just throw all the bikes in the truck...get some of that Great Stuff and just make a solid foam/bike mold.

Is it possible to turn them sideways with the bed and have the front tires on a bed side and strap them down? You could a rack for the rear tires and strap them down and still have room for gear and space between the bikes. Im just not for sure the bed side would be up to it...

As you can see, they all fit in, I would hate to do it with a brand new bike! Actually the red Honda is a new bike and it dented the top of my tire well with its frame. I'm not worried about the inside of the bed though. I have ordered the bike holder for the front wheels, hopefully with three bikes facing frontward, one back, it will work better.
I have some better pics that are to big to upload, I'll shrink them and post later!

I know this doesn't answer your questn, but a KX500. I haven't seen that bike in such a long time. I don't think I could handle that bike as I get older. The nice thing is that the KX500 is a green sticker because of its age and crazy fast.
