Since I bought my 3500 used last year I've been trying to get rid of the nicotene smell out of the a/c ducting. The prev owner was a chain smoker. When you get in the truck after sitting a day or two in the heat & turn on a/c it almost makes you puke. I've changed the filters & sprayed all kinds of disinfectants & odor killers in the ducting, still stinks.Anyone have any ideas besides taking up smoking?

I can't believe that the only thing that stinks is the Ducting. Does the carpet and upolstery really not smell? Anyway, my buddy bought a car from a guy who smoked and he took it to a detail shop where they were able to run a ozone unit in his car and sprayed some stuff in it and it helped a lot. I dunno if that'll work for you since it's in the ducting but it's something to look into.

If the A/C is used on recirculate, where is the intake for the air? Down near the floor?

Maybe try cleaning the intake tube? A shot in the dark.

The rest of the interior is fine,it was detailed good before I bought it,shampoo etc. It's only when the fan is on that it get's you. When I took the filters out they were yellow & were pretty rank.I've sprayed everything I can think of in the intake & still stinks.I called the a/c shops around & asked if they had ideas & one said he heard of a foam to spray in,but couldn't remember name.We have a Flair ozone unit in the house,I'll try that overnight & see what happens. If all else fails I'll take it apart as far as I can & start cleaning it by hand.Thanks.....

Probably what it's going to take, when you get to the evaporator any HVAC supply house will have the cleaner required to safely clean that. Can you imagine what this guy's lungs must look likehttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/smiley11.gif
