I am swapping my th400 out for a sm465, Ive got the old trans out and hoping to get it set up soon...I want to do a clean swap without useless things sitting under the hood. I am wondering what to do with the modulator vacume line from the auto, can I just block it off at the injector pump where it comes from? also what is the orange wire that connects to the auto and what can I do with it?? I havnt really looked at the wires on the donor truck to the sm465, I think it is a neutral safety switch, just a guess though. I will be posting pics when I start to put things back in. thanks to all.

Wylie, when I did my 700r4 swap, I just left it there....
You could, i am pretty sure, remove the valve from the IP, and totally remove the vacuum pump if you so choose.
The orange wire is for the kick-down on the TH400. It is supplied from the fuse box, where it unplugs, over to a switch on the throttle pedal, and down from there.

nice thanks Mike. I will remove it, and the vacume lines.
I figured out that the two wires from the sm465 are for reverse lights.
I forgot to mention there were a purple and yellow wire that hooked up to a switch on the clutch pedal, one (the yellow I think) went to the ignition harnesses on the column. would this be to prevent starting without the clutch in? if so Im not going to bother with them....

This is exactly what those wires are for....
