Hi, all.
I'm the latest owner of a 1995 Suburban 1500 with the 6.5 turbo diesel in it.
I've driven it for the past three months without trouble. Last week it started
stalling intermittently and now it will only run for 20 seconds or so before stalling.

Saturday, I did the fuel pump test and it failed (no fuel from "bleeder" hose on engine).
I replaced the fuel pump and the test failed again. (Why don't I read directions? :-) ). I replaced the OPS and fired the truck up. It seemed fine
on a quick run around the block and the fuel pump test now passes.

Sunday, I took the truck for a drive. It ran OK but when I went to restart the truck a few hours later, it kept stalling. When I do the fuel pump test now, it still passes.

My question now is, "Where do I go from here? Is it likely that running without the fuel pump (not sure how long) stressed the IP enough to break it? Or is this a case of the PMD going bad in conjunction with the fuel pump not working?

Diagnostic check list below.

Thanks a lot,
Tom

Hi Tom....welcome to the 'place

Have you changed your fuel filter lately?

Do you have a spare PMD to swap in place?

If the truck stalls and the LP still passes its test then fuel supply to the IP is suspect or the PMD could be failing....if the truck was run for too long without a functional LP (and the PMD was installed on the IP) then temps on the IP/PMD could have gotten too hot and killed the PMD...

If you are buying a new PMD you really need to check out heath diesel....his remote kits are expensive but the warranty and piece of mind are more than worth it...

Thanks, Chris.

Before all this happened, I was considering the Heath PMD relocator. I guess
it will be now rather than "someday."
