My dad bought a Hypertech today and when he plugged it in it told him he had 3 DTC codes p0106, p0236 and u1000. He has had the truck for 2-3 years and never had any problems and it seems to run great.

Should he:

A clear codes and program and see if they come back.

B clear codes no program and drive around for a while and see if they come back.

C no program leave codes in and take to dealer.

He is new to all this kind of stuff and is afraid of hurting something

Thanks in advance for the help.

P0106 is a Map sensor,P0236 is a Turbo Charger Boost sensor.

Not much to be overly concerned with .You should just clear see if they return if so call the dealer. It is possible being a 01? that there maybe ECM reflashes that he might not have to correct these codes.

I'm assuming you had no Service Engine Soon light just soft codes stored?

There was no SES light, he had no idea that there would be any codes.

So the best thing to do is just clear the codes, program and drive it for a while, then check it again and see if the codes come back?

Thanks for the help, this forum is great for this kind of stuff, I really enjoy going to the dealer with a little bit of knowledge.

Sure but if it's a 01 there is a corrective flash for those codes. The Hypertech program may or may not be effected.

Regardless it isn't that big of a deal I have set those codes many times over. When you get a SES and Map sensor I have seen the RPM's be cut back although.

Make sure you remove the Hypertech and don't blow the whistle on yourself when you bring the truck in if necessary.
